Thank you to all who came out for the Skate Night!

Great fun was had by skaters and families in the beautiful Bruins skating arena. Even some 9th graders came back for Bigelow night. Kudos to all the first timers on the ice! Thank you to Principal Harrison and brave teachers for joining us!

Help us plan our Big Night!

Our first planning meeting will be this Tuesday, December 11th, 7:30pm, at at Una Simmons’ house: 12 Willard Street, Newton 02458. (Hunnewell Neighborhood). We thank Karen Markson for chairing the event this year!!!

Big Night is Bigelow PTO’s biggest social and fundraising event of the year. Come help us make it a big success! We will be discussing ways parents can help with silent auction items, food donations, decorating and giving a hand the day of the party.

Please contact us @ bigelowbulldog@gmail.com if you would like to be involved. Thank you!

Our Annual Appeal campaign is almost over!

Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation.

We are hoping that every family will participate in this fundraising endeavor. No amount is too small (or big) to give to the PTO – and all gifts make a difference. With your financial help, all children at Bigelow can enjoy many exciting, enriching and fun educational programs, such as One School, One Book. We can also make building improvements.

Bigelow International Food Network Project

Note from the project team:

Food traditions are often featured in family and cultural celebrations.  On December 21, 2018, each Advisory will host a Winter Break Celebration. Bigelow students and staff are encouraged to bring in foods to share that have meaning in their families and/or cultures.

To help continue building our Bigelow community, we would like to start a public collection of the recipes that represent our diverse backgrounds.  We anticipate making this collection open to all families and staff. If you would like to include your family recipe on our public site, please email a member of the Bigelow International Food Network Project Team (addresses below) with the following information:

  • Student Name / Family Name
  • Recipe Title
  • Country / Culture of Origin
  • Ingredients & Quantities
  • Steps
  • Story: Tell us why this food is important to you. What is the connection / significance to your family and/or culture?
  • Optional: Photos or Videos of your food or its preparation

Bon appétit!  Buen provecho!  B’tayavon! Buon appetito!  Bom apetite! Sahtein!

One School, One Book – Thank you

“Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Bigelow staff and students, I want to THANK YOU for supporting our One School, One Book Program so generously. This year’s big day went off very smoothly and from the surveys (student) we’ve seen all students really like at least one session and many more than one. The goal is to plant a seed – touch every child with at least one session and it looks like we succeeded with that!

Thank you again for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Patty Summa”
