Bigelow Middle School PTO was represented by the Simmons family as they traveled to Barbados over winter break. They packed school supplies in their luggage and dropped them off at their participating hotel. The school supplies will be distributed to support the local community through non-profit group – PACK for a PURPOSE –www.packforapurpose.org. Bigelow PTO pencils, folders and other paper good were donated. Consider donating something on your next trip.

We are looking for thankful caregivers to organize Bigelow’s teachers most appreciated event of the year: the Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon!
This is an annual event organized by the PTO in early February. The PTO also organizes a Tea for teachers and staff in June.
In 2020, the Luncheon is on February 6th and the Tea is June 2nd. Please contact us if you would like to help organize this celebration of Bigelow’s educators. Email: bigelowbulldog@gmail.com
Those are great ways to take a moment to thank the amazing teachers and staff at Bigelow for all they do for our children. Bigelow families provide the food, beverages, serving utensils and flowers for this event.
The events are held on Early Release Days, and teachers and staff can enjoy a joyful peaceful time. They absolutely love and appreciate every aspect of those days!
Please mark you calendars for upcoming concerts:
Concerts start at 7pm at the Bigelow Auditorium.
Please join Chairpersons Alexis Giannakopoulos & Cheryl Abramson at the next Big Night meeting. It will be held at the Giannakopoulos’ residence on January 22, 2020, 81 Montrose Street at 7:00pm. We need parents to help organize the biggest event of the year that will benefit all of our students. More information here.
It’s that time of year and your mailbox is probably filled with worthy organizations asking for donations. The Bigelow Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is one cause that doesn’t get more personal: our kids’ education. As parents and guardians of Bigelow students, we are all members of the PTO, an organization that is well worth supporting.
Why give to the PTO?
Please support these important programs with your gift to Bigelow PTO, online or by check – CLICK HERE. Matching gifts are a great way to maximize your donation and some companies double or triple your gift to education.

With the support of the PTO, PoPS, and the School Council, the Bigelow auditorium was painted during the holiday break. This is part of our ongoing work to upgrade the auditorium and create a space that is as high-quality as the performances of our students on stage. Previous work has included new light fixtures, new curtains, and a new storage unit for theatrical sets. The next project will be new carpeting, which is scheduled to be installed in February. More information here and here.
Attention Skiers and Snowboarders: There are still some spots available for each of our trips this season. Go to the Ski and Snowboard Club page of Ms. Fitzgerald’s website to sign up, or see Ms. Duda in homebase G07 for more information. The first trip is Thursday, January 30th!
