Teacher Appreciation Tea – Tuesday June 4th

Please volunteer to help or donate to the Teacher Appreciation Tea – Tuesday, June 4th. Our teachers and staff members do so much for our children throughout the year. They teach them invaluable skills, instill them with knowledge and a love of learning, and serve as intellectual role models.

So let’s say a proper thank you with a proper English tea — Bigelow-style. This year’s annual staff appreciation tea takes place on Tuesday, June 4th at 2:00 pm.

We are looking for volunteers to provide finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries, fruit salad and any other delectable that goes well with tea. We also need volunteers to help set up and break down. Set up is at 1:15 pm and break down is at 3:00 pm.

All items may be dropped off the morning of the tea in the teacher’s lunchroom or put in the refrigerator there. Please drop off items no later than 12:30pm. It is most helpful if items are brought in a disposable container.

  • To bring food or volunteer please sign up HERE.
  • To make a monetary contribution for the tea by credit card, please click HERE.

For more information or if you have any questions, please contact the Teacher Appreciation Co-Chairs, Miriam Alandydy (Miriam.alandydy@gmail.com) or Andrea Hemment (ahemment@gmail.com).

Honor Thy Teacher 2019

Honor Thy Teacher is a great way to say “Thank You” to the amazing people who motivate, educate and inspire our kids to be the best they can be. When you recognize teachers and staff through Honor Thy Teacher, you’ll also be supporting the Newton Public Schools.
NSF celebrates teachers and staff by:

  • Notifying honorees of your gift by the end of the school year
  • Sharing honoree names with the Superintendent and Principals
  • Listing all honored teachers and staff in an ad in the Newton TAB

Suggested donation is $25 per teacher/staff member, which will help NSF fund programs for students and professional development for staff that advances excellence and equity throughout Newton’s schools. Click here to learn about the programs NFS funds.
You can donate online by visiting the NSF website or by check made out to “Newton Schools Foundation,” P.O. Box 590020, Newton, MA, 02459. Be sure to include the name(s) and school(s) of those you wish to honor.

From the Bigelow International Food Network Team

In the fall, we requested that families share their international food traditions. Our goal was to make more connections among the Bigelow community as well as recognize cultural and culinary diversity.  We hope you will explore the International Food Network Site that we created, and we’d like to invite more families to contribute.  You can do so by completing the form that is available on our site.
