One School, One Book – Thank you

“Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Bigelow staff and students, I want to THANK YOU for supporting our One School, One Book Program so generously. This year’s big day went off very smoothly and from the surveys (student) we’ve seen all students really like at least one session and many more than one. The goal is to plant a seed – touch every child with at least one session and it looks like we succeeded with that!

Thank you again for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Patty Summa”

Annual Appeal – Help us reach our goal

This year our goal is to get 100% Participation from our amazing community!

We are hoping that every family will participate in this fundraising endeavor. No amount is too small (or big) to give to the PTO – and all gifts make a difference. With your financial help, all children at Bigelow can enjoy many exciting, enriching and fun educational programs, such as One School, One Book. We can also make building improvements.

To make your gift online by credit card just click here: Donate online. Or you can send a check to: Bigelow PTO at 42 Vernon Street, Newton, MA 02458 – download form here.

Matching gifts are a great way to maximize your donation and can double or triple your gift to education. Please click here for a partial list of companies that offer to match employee donations.

All donations – large or small – are greatly appreciated and will help us achieve all that the PTO sets out to doA thank you to those of you who have already donated!!

Warmly,
PTO Board

New storage space

Bigelow is in the process of upgrading our auditorium! As part of this large initiative to improve the space, the PTO helped to purchase a storage container that was installed on the side of the school last week. This will be shared between the Drama program, who will use it to store large set pieces and seldom used props out of the auditorium, and by the larger school community to clean up the hallways of such items as ping pong tables and boxes of extra books. THANK YOU for your continuos support of the PTO!

“It took about 5 hours and the combined efforts of 50 students, 2 custodians,  and 3 teachers, but 90% of the set pieces are now in storage! We had a great team of girl power doing some serious heavy lifting, graciously loaned by Mr P, Ms. Fitzgerald, and Mr Whitman- THANK YOU! The tech crew sorted all the pieces in the cafeteria, tossing the redundant or otherwise unneeded pieces, and storing the rest. At the end of callbacks all the actors came and helped with the final push. There’s still work to do, BUT it is already a MAJOR upgrade. Just not having random wood everywhere makes the auditorium seem so much nicer.  I’m so grateful for the PTO’s support of this project, as well as your children’s big muscles!”

Big Night 2019 Planning – Join Us!

Save the date: the first planning committee meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 11th.

We will be discussing ways parents can help and volunteer, how to get silent auction items and food donations for the evening.
