Fuel Assistance Available
The City of Newton Social Services Division is now accepting appointments for Fuel Assistance applications. We recognize families will face increased financial stress due to their heating and utility costs this winter and we are here to help. Below are the eligibility guidelines for the Low Income Heating Assistance Program:
Families can complete our new intake form (Social Services Intake Form) or call us (617-796-1420). We will assist families in completing the applications and talk through other financial resources that may be available.

Dear NPS Families,
The superintendent search has entered its “engagement” phase in which the search committee is soliciting feedback and input from the Newton community to help identify and select the next superintendent for our district. Your feedback will assist the School Committee in understanding your perspective as candidates are recruited, screened, and interviewed for the position.The survey linked below is designed to solicit perceptions of the district and its services to students, staff, and families. Based upon these perceptions, you will also be asked for input on what you consider to be the most effective characteristics for the district’s next superintendent. Newton Neighbors Gift Card Drive for Thanksgiving
As we approach the holiday season, Newton Neighbors is looking to support our neighbors struggling to put food on the table. Last year, through the support of our community, Newton Neighbors provided 150 families throughout Newton, Brockton, and Waltham with $50 supermarket Gift Cards! With increasing food costs, the goal is to give out $75 gift cards this holiday season through partner agencies to families in Newton, Waltham, and Brockton. The Thanksgiving Gift Card Drive will run from November 1 – 19.

Art as Therapy Program
My name is Sarah Moriarty and I am the Education Coordinator at the New Art Center in Newtonville. I’m reaching out to discuss our new Art as Therapy program for middle and high school students.
We at the New Art Center believe that the visual arts are an important tool for self-expression and emotional wellbeing. This program, developed with and facilitated by a licensed art therapist, seeks to provide a space for middle school students to express their feelings through artistic mediums.

New England Camp Fair
Our 5th annual free camp fair is this Saturday, November 5th from 11am-2pm, and I was hoping you could share this with your school communities.
In addition to meeting 25+ camps in person, attendees can enter our raffle for over $7,500 in camp gift certificates from camps like HipStitch, Summer @ BB&N, Empow, Camp Cody, and more! Every attendee gets three free raffle tickets!
