First Lego League: Robotics competitions for students grade K-8

Hello Parents,

My name is Kavya and I am a member of Newton’s high school robotics team, The LigerBots, consisting of students from both Newton North and Newton South High Schools. We compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) program. If your child is enthusiastic about robotics or LEGOs, or STEAM in general, FIRST also provides robotics competitions for students in grades K-8. FLL gives kids the chance to build robots using LEGO kits. Kids form teams of 2-10 people, program, and build a LEGO robot with the purpose of completing challenges. This year, The LigerBots will be hosting an FLL info night on June 22nd, 7-8:30pm at Newton South High School. You are encouraged to talk to your children about FLL, as FLL is an amazing opportunity for all. Plus, they can form a team with their friends!

We will go over the competition logistics, what students will do, and how to start a team. Interested families can sign up to attend here: If you are unable to make it to the info night, additional information will be sent out to all who fill out the form. If you would like a bit more background information beforehand, here is FLL’s official website.

In addition to the questions or comments section of the form above, please don’t hesitate to reach out and email us at

Thanks in advance,

The LigerBots (FRC Team 2877)
