Beautiful baking reaps rewards!

 

Thank you to the many volunteers and bakers who helped with the Bigelow bake sale! Nearly $600 was raised for the Cyndi Dailey Smith Scholarship Fund (http://bigelowpto.org/the-cyndi-dailey-smith-and-howard-b-smith-scholarship-fund/).

Baby Grand Piano for sale

For Sale – 5’10” Grand piano that is in great shape. We are not using it at all and we want to have it in a home where it can be loved and enjoyed.

Details of the Piano:

– 1980 Kawai 5′-10″‘ Grand piano (Serial # 1147832)

– The harp and action is modeled after the Steinway design

– Color is a semi-gloss Black (Ebony finish)

– It is in very good shape and holds its tuning extremely well

– Foot casters and bench included with the piano

– Photos available

Cost: It was just appraised for a replacement value of $12K–Best Offer.  Estimate for local moving costs about $500

Fun sing-along for all ages

What would happen if you held a sing-a-long and the whole town came?
Come to a participatory music-making event for singers of all ages and
abilities. Join songleader Nick Page and the Newton Country Players, Folk
Society of Greater Boston, Newton All City Honor choirs, the Newton Public
Schools Music Department, Silver Newtones, Zamir Chorale of Boston,
Newton Choral Society and Journey Songs. Admission is free, please

Open Arts Day at the Arsenal Ctr for the Arts, May 4

The Arsenal Center for the Arts hosts Open Arts Day, a celebration of community.

Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
321 Arsenal Street in Watertown

The free open house features the diverse programming offered by the Center and its three resident companies – New Repertory Theatre, Watertown Children’s Theatre and Quilters’ Connection.

Throughout the day, there will be activities for the whole family: performances, live music, exhibits, demonstrations and workshops in art, theatre and more. In addition, every registrant will receive a ticket to be entered into a raffle for free theatre tickets or summer art classes.

The speaker, Dr. Michael Rich, is a pediatrician and director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children’s Hospital, Boston. His research explores the positive and negative effects of technology (computer, television, cellphones, etc.) on children and teens. Join us as Dr. Rich discusses

  • Strategies and tips to manage children’s use of technology
  • How to fight the “crowd” mentality
  • Addictive nature of technology as it relates to children with attention issues
  • Impact of violence and inappropriate content on child development
