Not sure what to say to your teen about dating safety? Want to encourage your teen’s positive self image? Wondering what resources Newton offers for teens and families?

All parents/guardians and teens are invited to the Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices expo on Wednesday, January 22nd.

  • Discover community resources promoting positive decision making for teens
  • Enjoy refreshments and student performances as you browse the exhibits
  • The first 50 teens who bring a parent will receive a treat bag
  • This expo coincides with Junior Parent Night; parents/guardians of juniors are asked to come early to explore the expo.

Register today for Newton SouthEast Little League Spring 2014 season!

Registration for new and returning players for NSELL ’s Spring 2014 season is open through February 14th. NSELL runs several programs in the spring, including T-ball (kindergarten and younger), Farm (1st and 2nd Grade), and Minors (AA and AAA) and Majors. Unlike previous years, where a child had to live in the NSELL district, any child who  lives or attends a school within the district bounded by Angier, Bowen, Countryside, Mason-Rice, Memorial Spaulding, and Zervas is eligible to play in our league, whether they live in the NSELL district or not.

Newton North Little League Baseball Registration OPEN

Newton North Little League serves children from ages 4-12 who reside in the School Districts of Horace Mann, Lincoln Elliot, and Underwood. Children from any district who attend schools located in the district are also eligible to play. Pre-School, Private and Middle school children who fall within the allowed age groups are also welcome to play.

Waltham Track Club – Spring Season Registration

Spring/summer registrations will be held on Sunday, March 2nd at 5:00 in the Kennedy Middle School indoor track. There will be a mandatory parent’s meeting for all parents whose child is new to our spring program. The program is open to anyone born in 2000-2006. Track and Field events are offered.

The spring program will begin the Monday after the April school vacation and be held every Monday and Wednesday, from 6:00-8:00, through June 10. All sessions are held at the J Lee Gould Track & Field facility at Leary Field, Bacon St in Waltham.

NewtonPAC Open Board Meeting

NewtonPAC is holding a special open board meeting next week with Dr. Judy Levin-Charns, Paula Black and Maura Tynes to talk about Extended School Year (ESY) summer services for the 2014 summer season. Many parents are making decisions about summer camp now and interested in finding out what programs NPS will offer. The results of the survey done last summer on the 2013 ESY services will also be discussed.

TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON – Wed Feb 5th

Our annual teacher appreciation luncheon will take place on Wednesday, February 5th.  We are looking for parents to provide a luncheon item, dessert or drinks. We are also in need of volunteers to help us set up and clean up. Set up is at 10:30am and clean up is at 3:15pm.

All items may be dropped off the morning of the luncheon in the teacher’s lunchroom or put in the refridgerator there. Please drop off all items no later than 10:30am. It is most helpful if items are brought in a recyclable container. Please send in your favorite lunch food!  Salads, sandwiches, entrees; whatever you think our wonderful teachers and staff will enjoy.  Thank you in advance for helping us show our appreciation for our teachers and staff.

The Newton North PTSO invites Bigelow teens and their families to participate in our fun and informative 4th annual Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices expo. The expo is a valuable event designed to help teens navigate academic and social stress.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Teens and parents/guardians are invited to the  Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choices expo for participative, informative exhibits; student performances; and fun. Meet 30+ community exhibitors who help teens navigate high school pressures in order to stay safe and healthy. Get information about everything from driving and pedestrian safety to healthy eating and positive body image to stress reduction and mental health support. Refreshments will be served, and special treat bags will be distributed to the first 50 students who come with their parent/guardian!
