For families and youngsters, our popular Farm Sprout program returns as does “Ready Set Grow”, our family gardening program.

Theatre Ink, Newton North’s award-winning theatre troupe, presents: Thoroughly Modern Millie, directed and choreographed by Brad Jensen. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is an evening of madcap merriment.
A high-spirited musical romp that takes place in the roaring ‘20’s, the show tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to New York City in search of a new life at a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Today, Feb. 25, is the kickoff of the Cookie Dough spring fundraiser. All orders are due March 7. Delivery of cookie dough orders is March 27. Funds raised benefit the Cindy Daley Smith and Howard Smith scholarship fund and other PTO programs. Packets and order forms were distributed at lunch today to students. Check with your child for the packet.
Incentives: Sell 3 tubs of cookie dough by Feb 28 and students receive a chance to win cash ($1 – 20 – 50 -100)! Sell 5 tubs and you receive a chance of winning cash and a free tub of your favorite cookie dough!

Our annual teacher appreciation luncheon will now take place on Thursday, March 13th. We need parents to provide a luncheon item, dessert or drinks. We also need volunteers to help set up and clean up. Set up is at 10:30am and clean up is at 3:15pm.

Items may be dropped off the morning of the luncheon in the teacher’s lunchroom or put in the refrigerator there no later than 10:30am. You may also drop off items the evening of Mar 12th at Stacy Schwartz’s house at 15 Park Ave.
It is most helpful if items are brought in a recyclable container. Please send in your favorite lunch food! Salads, sandwiches, entrees; whatever you think our wonderful teachers and staff will enjoy.

Newton’s Global Education Leadership Fund (GELF) is five years old. Join 150 members of our community for chef’s favorites, wine, and live entertainment to benefit lower-income Newton students aspiring to participate in international educational programs. The dinner is on Saturday, March 8th, 6:30-10:30 pm at Newton North High School.
This year alone GELF has funded:

Newton Has Talent 2014: Announcing that Matt Siegel, from Matty in the Morning Radio show on Kiss 108 is going to be the MC this year!!!
The Rotary Club of Newton is proud to once again present the area’s premiere Talent Show – Newton Has Talent! 2014. Now in its second year, the contest is open to virtually any act, and talent of all ages 13+ are invited to compete for the $1,000 first Prize. All proceeds will support the Rotary Club of Newton’s community service projects benefiting local organizations.

The Zamir Chorale of Boston leads a Newton Sing of Handel’s Judas Maccabeus. Please join the Zamir Chorale of Boston and Director Joshua Jacobson in a highly entertaining community sing of Handel’s Judas Maccabeus. Choral singers of all levels, and lovers of all music are invited to join members of the Zamir Chorale of Boston, and pianist Edwin Swanborn to sing favorite choruses from Handel’s famous Oratorio, including “Hallelujah, Amen” and “See the Conquering Hero.” Bring your own score, or use one of theirs. She helps business owners develop and maintain a cohesive, authentic and professional online presence, so that they can leverage platforms such as LinkedIn and Google+ to increase revenue. She has 14 plus years of experience leveraging online media tools to help companies with their marketing plans.
Victoria Nessen Kohlasch. Victoria is the founder of NK&A, a marketing consulting firm. She helps companies build the brand momentum they need to achieve their growth goals. The firm specializes in delivering marketing strategies that define a path to successful growth, branding that connects emotionally to the right audience, and implementation plans that capitalize on internal resources, technology and a good dose of common sense.
