Student Directories – Have been sent home!!

We are happy to announce that purple student directories were distributed to students this past week. Please check your child’s backpack for yours. Families with two households will receive both directories from your child.

Many thanks to Beth Coomber for the directory production and managing from start to finish all that goes into it – collecting information, formatting, and coordinating printing. Thank you for your tireless efforts over these past couple of months.

This year’s One School, One Book is in the Books

Thursday, our children spent the morning exploring and learning about the themes of this year’s One School, One Book book “Losing It” by Erin Fry.  The students heard a wonderful presentation by Erin Fry about the book, talked about promoting positive body image with Rachel Benson of MEDA and learned a little line dancing with Mr. P and Mary Fitzgerald.  Later in the evening, Erin Fry came back to Bigelow and spoke to parents about her book and her inspiration.

We would like to thank everyone involved in organizing and planning this special day for our children, especially Patty Summa,  for so thoughtfully putting together this event.  And thank you to all the parents for your support of the PTO.  It is through your support we are able to underwrite special programs like this for our children.

CASC Update

Theatre Espresso will present “Uprising on King Street: The Boston Massacre”  to the Bigelow 8th graders on December 15th!

Theatre Espresso performs interactive dramas that bring history to life.  Their work challenges students to make critical judgments, explore social relationships, reflect on the role of law and human rights in our society, and question accepted truths about the history of America.  In “Uprising on King Street”, Theatre Espresso involves students in a dramatization of the circumstances that led to the Boston Massacre, and the trial of British Captain Preston.  In their role as jurors, students explore the events through the eyes of ordinary men and women who were both shaped by and instrumental in shaping history.

This program is made possible by the Bigelow Creative Arts and Sciences Committee, and is funded entirely by your PTO contributions.
