Yoga is a great tool to help pre-teens and teenagers develop healthy relationships with their bodies, as well as to help them feel empowered to make good decisions and manage the stress in their busy lives. Yoga builds strength, flexibility, and focus in the mind as well as the body. Down Under Yoga’s Christyn Schroeder will be teaching a yoga class for kids ages 10-14 in Waban Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 pm starting October 11, 2011 at a private home with a large basement. Local Circus is Coming to Newton!

Youth Ensemble groups in Newton
The youth Ensemble program is designed for beginner/intermediate/advance students who like to play and perform with a steady small group, playing , Jazz, Latin and Rock. The ensemble groups meet EVERY OTHER WEEK for an hour and a half, on Mon OR Thu 7:00-8:30 (two different groups)

Newton Inspires: An Evening of Ideas and Community
An Olympic medalist and a Peabody Award-winning journalist are among the speakers at “Newton Inspires: An Evening of Ideas and Community,” hosted by the Newton Schools Foundation. Join prominent Newtonians in small group sessions as they discuss their passions, share their insights, and inspire participants with their stories. This FREE event will take place Thursday October 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Newton North High School.
More than two dozen speakers representing an array of fields and interest areas will address topics ranging from education, business, government and economics to sports, arts, entertainment and life. Participants choose three 20-minute sessions to attend. At the end of the evening, participants and speakers will gather together to reconnect over coffee and dessert.

Watertown Children’s Theatre presents “Poe! Poe! Poe!”
Edgar Allen Poe wrote stories and poems that have entertained readers for over 100 years, with twists and turns in them that continue to mystify and delight.
WCT’s Play Factory brings the life and works of Poe together in Poe! Poe! Poe!, performed by an ensemble cast of 6th-9th graders including Newton’s own Zoe Warre. Performances are October 28-30 in the Black Box Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts. Seating is limited. Little League Annual Meeting: Nov. 1
Newton South Little League will hold its annual member meeting on Tuesday, November 1, at 7 pm at the Angier School library (1697 Beacon St).
This meeting is open to all league parents as well as to people interested in contributing to the league by volunteering. The 2012 Board will be nominated and elected at this meeting. Please come to help make South Little League the best it can be for your children!
