Angier Elementary School Seeking Substitute Teachers
Angier School is looking to fill two Substitute/Instructional Support Staff (ISS) positions. One is a 1-day-per-week (Friday) position. The other is a 2-day-per-week (Friday and Thursday or Wednesday) position. The candidates will provide substitute coverage for all grades K-5 as needed and should have classroom experience. This is a great part-time opportunity for former teachers or recent education graduates interested in working in Newton. Are you interested in helping a child with disabilities learn how to ride a bicycle?
Arlington iCanShine Bike Camp returns to Arlington this April during school vacation week, April 18th – 22nd. iCanShine bike camp is a place where anyone eight or over with a diagnosed disability can learn how to ride a conventional two wheeled bicycle. It’s a place where miracles happen.
They are seeking volunteers, age14 or over, to work with riders during the upcoming bike camp. If you are unfamiliar with what bike camp is all about, head to www.icanshine. org and check out a few of the videos posted there to see bike camp in action.

NewtonPAC meeting March 29th
The topic of the NewtonPAC’s next meeting will be Restraint, Seclusion and Time-Outs, and the use of quiet rooms. Dan Almeida, District Supervisor of ABA Services, will be presenting in the new State regulations and Newton’s policy changes.
If your child ever has (or might have) time out of class for the purpose of calming, these changes affect you. The NewtonPAC worked hard on the policy changes with NPS to insure parental notification and involvement in the use of these procedures. Please try to attend if you can.

QPR Training
Newton Cares invites you to learn a suicide prevention training called QPR, Question, Persuade, Refer. It’s an an evidence based, simple technique that offers everyone strategies and approaches to responding to someone experiencing distress and information about how to get the expert help required. Community Contras and Square Dance
“All join hands and circle left!” Traditional American square and contra dances are fun and easy, with music that gets everyone up and onto the dance floor. Join Sue Rosen, caller; Ed Rosen on piano and guitar, along with fiddler Julie Metcalf for a family-friendly community dance event for ages 10 and up. Sue Rosen has been calling dances for the past twenty years and is an active member of the American, English country Dance, Contras and Squares and Morris and Sword Dancing communities.

Au Pairs for special needs children information session
Come and learn about PROaupair’s professional au pairs. Their au pairs have degrees in pediatric nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, early childhood education, special needs education and more. They have experience working with children with a variety of special needs including autism spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, Down syndrome, diabetes, epilepsy and seizures, extreme/undiagnosed disabilities, and other physical and mental delays.
