Great Vacations with Newton Community Ed!

NCE offers a variety of cool vacation-week programs for kids. Try Domino Physics or Wicked Wacky Lab Week over February break (or Advanced Domino Physics if you’ve taken this class before), and explore Marble Machine Madness or Deep Blue Sea over April break. These programs take place at Newton North High School. In addition, over both vacations we’re running our ever-popular Make a TV Show program at NewTV, and Babysitting Certification classes as well. Watertown Jr. Reds AAU Baseball Program

Seeking Players for 2012 13U Spring season

Looking to raise your game to new level? Becoming a member of the Jr. Reds AAU Baseball program will offer that opportunity and a whole lot more. Don’t wait to join the area’s most exciting up and coming programs.

The Watertown Jr. Reds AAU Baseball Program will be holding tryouts for its 13U squad during the team’s Winter Practices in January and February. There is NO COST to tryout. Registration and Waiver forms can be found on the program’s website to be filled out before participating.

Newton at Home–Driver a Senior

Drive a Senior–Make a Friend!  Newton at Home, a member organization dedicated to helping Newton seniors age in their own homes, is looking for volunteers who can give rides to seniors.  Make a new friend while helping someone get to a doctor’s appointment, the supermarket, a social event or the airport.  Volunteer as much as you can at your convenience, and know that you have made a difference in a Newton senior’s life. School of Rock introduces “Jazz Jams”

School of Rock introduces a new Sunday afternoon course for kids – “Jazz Jams”, which will meet every Sunday from 2-5 PM at our 120 Elm Street in Watertown location. Recommended for students ages 11-18. All instruments welcome -singers too. Start on either 2/12 or 2/19 – (your choice) and learn jazz standards by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, and many more under the direction of Berklee-affiliated instructor Patrick Speece. Enrollment is on a month-by-month basis; performances in the local community when the ensemble feels ready. Only 12 students accepted at a time into this program. BC Lady Eagles Soccer Schools

Singing Group for Grades 2 – 5 & Week-long Summer Program for Aged 8 – 18

Do you know a child in grade 2 – 5 who loves to sing?  Join Youth pro Musica’s new Training Chorus!  Youth pro Musica: The Greater Boston Youth Chorus has trained generations of young people in musicianship and choral singing since has appeared with the finest orchestras and choruses in the Boston area and beyond.  The Training Chorus offers younger singers a positive introduction to music and singing, focusing on ear training, voice production, working well within a group, and developing confidence as a performer.  Later in the spring, the Training Chorus will perform alongside YpM’s older singers at the Annual Spring Concert.  The Training Chorus is directed by Brian Hagar-McKee, a gifted musician and educator who currently teaches music in the Wellesley public school system.  To learn more, please call (617) 666-6087 or e-mail auditions@youthpromusica.orgVisit YpM online at www.youthpromusica.org.

Program Description: After camp is over and before school starts up again, don’t stay home being bored.  Kids aged 8 to 18 who like to sing are invited to attend Youth pro Musica’s Summer Week!  Absent distractions or the pressure of the academic year. young people are free to focus on singing and making new friends.  Singers work with an outstanding staff comprised of professional musicians and educators, led by YpM Artistic Director Robert Barney.  Classes/ensembles focus on vocal technique, ear training and sight-singing, small and large ensemble singing and performance.  (Classes/ensembles are assigned based on age and prior musical experience.)  The week culminates with a Friday evening concert featuring all of Summer Week’s singers.

School of Rock Show Team Show on 2/11

Rock music lovers of all ages are invited down to the All Asia, 334 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, MA, on Saturday, 2/11 from 2-6 PM to witness School of Rock Boston’s Show Team cranking out some classic and alternative rock hits. The Show Team is comprised of students ages 10-16 and will be sharing the stage with a School of Rock spinoff band, Mudface, and industrial rock outfit [ZeroNegative].
