Creative Arts and Science Committee Update (CASC) 2011-2012
Since 1960, each Newton Public School PTO has had a Creative Arts & Sciences Committee that sponsors visiting programs to enhance students’ education. Presenters typically include award-winning authors, accomplished musicians, artists, scientists, Museum of Science, etc. Programs can be an adjunct to art, English, library, mathematics, music, physical education, science, or social studies curricula. Bigelow’s Creative Arts & Sciences Committee brings about eight programs to the school each year. Many of them are teacher favorites that are requested every year, others are new and different.

Cradles to Crayons Drive November 14th – 18th

Please donate gently used or new clothes, books, toys, or games to Cradles to Crayons. Cradles to Crayons provides gently used essential items to children in low income situations. Please do not donate anything that is stained, ripped or torn. Cradles to Crayons is in most need of jeans and pants. They accept clothing from size 0-20. They are also in need of shoes and winter boots. If you have any questions contact Caroline Cohen or Amy Silberstein at617-964-8344 or 617-413-5731. Thanks for a Great Soup Stroll!
I would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s soup stroll! It was a fabulous evening and an enormous success. The money raised will go towards our creative arts and sciences programs as well as technology. A big thank you to the hosts who generously volunteered their homes and who took great care and time to prepare special meals. Thanks to all of you who participated – for your generous donations and for your terrific community spirit.
