Bigelow Cross Country

The Cross Country Sign Up Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 7 after school in the Bigelow Library. Cross Country is a sport open to all students and it is the only sport that sixth graders are allowed to join at the middle school level. No experience is required and there are no cuts. All students are eligible to participate, but must attend the meeting in order to receive important information for joining. For more information, please check the Bigelow Cross Country Website.

From Ms. Patty Summa
Head Coach Cross Country

School Supplies, Picnic, Etc.

Thank you to everyone who picked up their school supply kits today. If you did not get a chance to get them today, please instruct your students to get their kits from the hallway facing the courtyard on the first day of school. The large kits are color-coded by grade level (6th – red, 7th – orange, 8th – yellow) and alphabetized by student’s last name. If a language kit was ordered it has now been placed with the larger general kit in the hallway. Several language kits were left behind today and those are simply organized in alphabetical order.

The beginning of the school year is less than a week away! The  school was full of happy energy this morning as the teachers were busy readying their classrooms for Tuesday, September 6th!

Please mark your calendars for the All School Picnic on Wednesday, September 14th, 5:30 PM – 7 PM at Burr Park (in case of inclement weather we will move to the cafeteria and the gym). There will be food trucks, ice cream, and lots of fun as we come together as a school community to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

Volunteers Needed

8th Grade Parents: Please consider volunteering at the car wash/bake sale on September 23rd.

Support the Bigelow Library and Honor a Teacher

Honor your student or a Bigelow teacher / staff member and support the library at the same time.  A nameplate honoring the student/teacher, and recognizing the donor, will be placed inside a new book.  HELP us reach our goal of $500 in donations to support the library.  To date we have raised over $350 for new books!!

Click here to find a list of book’s specifically selected for the Bigelow Library.  Chose the book(s) you would like to donate and pay by credit card. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Please donate to the Teacher Appreciation Tea – This Tues June 14th

DONATIONS ARE STILL NEEDED!!  Our teachers and staff members do so much for our kids throughout the year. They teach them invaluable skills, instill them with knowledge and a love of learning, and serve as intellectual role models.

So let’s say a proper thank you with a proper English tea — Bigelow-style. This year’s annual staff appreciation tea takes place on Tuesday, June 14 at 2:00 pm.

We are looking for volunteers to provide finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries, crumpets (whatever they are), fruit salad and any other delectables that go well with tea. We also need volunteers to help set up and clean up. Set up is at 12:45 and clean up is at 3:00.

All items may be dropped off the morning of the tea in the teacher’s lunchroom or put in the refrigerator there. Please drop off items no later than 12:30pm. It is most helpful if items are brought in a disposable container.

To donate or volunteer please sign up here.
