Thank you to the energetic crew who volunteered at Beautify Bigelow last Saturday! We weeded, mulched, and planted perennials to enjoy this Fall and over 50 bulbs to look forward to this Spring.

Please join us Wednesday, October 23rd at 7 pm in the Bigelow library for our October PTO Action Meeting!
We will begin the meeting by reviewing the PTO budget and fundraising needs for the 2024-25 school year. We will then break into groups to discuss focused ideas and start planning activities for the following priorities:
Global Diversity Event (similar to International Night hosted in many elementary schools)
Fundraising (e.g., Auction)
Community Building (e.g., regulary scheduled events such as Movie/Game Nights)
Other Social Events (for families or for parents-only)
This meeting is for all levels of interest and availability! We welcome any and all contributions.
Bring your gardening gear and tools and join the Bigelow PTO Saturday, October 19th from 10 am to 1 pm for Beautify Bigelow Day. The entire Bigelow Community is welcome! We will plant, clean, weed, and mulch in the front entrance beginning at 10 am.
All volunteers are welcome to drop in for any amount of time. Every contribution counts!
Franklin Park Family Fun Day! Please join Principal Green, Bigelow teachers and staff, and Boston and Newton families on Sunday, October 20th from 1:30-3:30 pm at Franklin Park for an afternoon of music, games, fun and connections as we start the 2024 school year!
The Bigelow PoPS (Parents of Performing Students) is a community of dedicated parents that supports the performing arts through advocacy, fundraising, coordination, and volunteering. Any parent or guardian who has a student in Orchestra, Chorus, Band, or Drama is welcome and encouraged to participate in the PoPS and support our students and performing arts faculty.
Please save the date for our first virtual meeting on Monday, October 28th from 7-8pm (link to come). We look forward to getting to know you!

Celebrate & uplift Indigenous peoples & voices on Indigenous Peoples Day in Newton, MA.
All are welcome to this free, family-friendly, Indigenous-led, volunteer-run event to enjoy great music, check out cultural dances & presentations, support local Indigenous vendors & non-profits, & eat delicious food.
The Newton Health and Human Services Department is offering two vaccine clinics for our community in October.
We are offering a Children-only flu and/or COVID clinic (with free COVID vaccine received from the State). Current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are that everyone 6 months and older should get the annual flu vaccine and an updated 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine.
We are also offering an Adult-only flu clinic. (Sorry, we do not have access to COVID vaccines for adults.)
The clinics will be in the Newton City Hall War Memorial Auditorium (1000 Commonwealth Avenue on the second floor; follow the signs). Insurance information is requested, but not required.

This clinic is open to anyone 6 months through 18 years old.
Appointments are required.
Flu and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines will be available.
