STEM Summer

The program takes place at MassBay Community College on our Wellesley Hills campus. This program is offered for Middle School Students (entering grades 7 and 8) and they are still accepting registrations.

The program provides middle school students (entering grades 7 and 8) an engaging and hands on STEM experience. Participating students will use creativity and teamwork to explore outer space. This program will provide middle school students an exciting introduction to various STEM careers and allows them to develop new skills. Students will work on small projects collaboratively to investigate, create, and design information relating to “space”. Students will get to work in our science and technology labs and learn to use Math and Science concepts to solve challenges.

Kapparate Computer Camp Curriculum
· For elementary students age 9-11:
Learn how to do amazing things with your computer, from creating your own website, making audio/video, and game modding. No computer experience required.

· For middle and high school students age 12 and up:
Students spend the first half of the camp learning computer science and programming topics through projects involving music, video, encryption, games and math. During the second half , students do a project individually or in groups, and make a presentation on the last day of the camp. The best project will be awarded a prize.

Get Hands On at the BU CityLab Science Program

Gann Academy in Waltham is excited to once again host the Boston University School of Medicine CityLab Biotechnology summer program. This program provides an opportunity for students to develop a deeper understanding of basic techniques and concepts related to DNA science. While working in teams, the students assume the role of a biotechnology company and work together to design and carry out an investigation to solve problems in biotechnology.

New this summer is the Solving Science Mysteries program designed for rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Students will solve problems by applying the same techniques and concepts of genetics and molecular biology used in modern research laboratories. Students will solve a crime scene mystery, test for genetic disorders and much more.

ZooCamp Summer Registration Open

Give your child an incredible experience at ZooCamp this summer. Campers at ZooCamp learn about a new theme every day through hands-on-activities designed to engage youth and get them excited about the natural world. At ZooCamp they will meet animals up close, tour behind the scenes, make new friends, and grow all under the leadership of our diverse, enthusiastic, caring staff. Ages 5-11.

Arsenal Center’s Spring and Summer Art Class Schedules Now Online

Registration is now open for the Arsenal Center for the Arts spring and summer art classes and workshops. Children’s classes (for K-8) include Art Adventures, Clay Projects, Mixed-Media, Comics & Cartoons, Wheelthrowing, Drawing, Painting and more. Fun Parent/Child workshops (for toddlers and up) are also available.

Spring classes begin the week of March 31st. Summer classes begin the week of June 16th. Classes are held at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street in Watertown, with free parking and access to public transportation. Scholarships and Member discounts are available.

LatinSummer Camp

Introducing “LatinSummer Boston,” a two-week summer enrichment program that provides students in grades 1-7 a unique chance to learn about Latin and the classical world! Creative and enthusiastic instructors will provide a wide array of exciting and hands-on activities that introduce students to many varied aspects of classical and conversational Latin, Greco-Roman mythology, and Roman culture and daily life. No prior knowledge of Latin or Classics is required.

LatinSummer Boston will run from July 21st – August 1st, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm   at The Brimmer & May School in Chestnut Hill. Registration fee is $295 with significantly reduced rates also available depending on financial need. Tee-shirts provided! Registrations are accepted by mail or online through May 31st. Summer Basketball Camp

Summer is right around the corner. The Joe Jones Basketball Clinic will run from June 30th – July 3rd, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for your child to receive individual instruction as well as learn the value of hard work and teamwork.

The clinic will be held at Case Athletic Center on the campus of Boston University. It is designed for boys & girls ages 7-18. The clinic fee is $225.00. Register via the website www.coachjonesbasketballclinics.com.

The Chyten Center in Newton is offering a series of hands-on, real-life learning camps and classes for elementary and middle-school this summer.

Younger programs (Grades 2-5) include:

Imagination Authors (Write your own novel and have it fully published)
Team Titans (Run your own baseball team and learn math in the process!)
The Literature Circle (Learn how to comprehend and analyze great children’s literature)
Discover My World (Do online research, learn Google Earth and design a “World’s Fair” with Legos)
Kids Career Time (Study, roleplay and experience five adult professions: Doctor, lawyer, architect, journalist and mayor)

Older programs (ages 11-14) include:
Writing Masters: The Muckrakers (Be part of a real newsroom and publish an online and print newspaper)
Vocabulary Masters: Drama Dictionary (Create an online video dictionary of advanced English vocabulary)
