Summer Basketball Camp

Summer is right around the corner. The Joe Jones Basketball Clinic will run from June 30th – July 3rd, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for your child to receive individual instruction as well as learn the value of hard work and teamwork.

The clinic will be held at Case Athletic Center on the campus of Boston University. It is designed for boys & girls ages 7-18. The clinic fee is $225.00. Register via the website www.coachjonesbasketballclinics.com.

 

Free Clinic on Running Injuries & Prevention, March 24

Boston Marathon® co-medical director Dr. Pierre d’Hemecourt will discuss running injuries and injury prevention on Monday, March 24, from 7-8pm at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton Street) in Newton.

Dr. d’Hemecourt, who is also the Director of Primary Care in the Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, will demonstrate how proper techniques, form and strength training can help prevent running injuries and lead to healthier, safer running.

Representatives from Greater Boston Running Company will be on hand
with samples of running shoes that help prevent injuries. The clinic, which is co-presented by The Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention, is free and open to the entire community.

Newton Girls Softball is a recreational league for over 300 Newton girls in grades 1-7. The league is committed to providing an experience that fosters positive self-esteem, team spirit, and individual growth through personal achievement and as a team member. Players of all skill levels will have a fun and rewarding experience.

Register for Spring Kindergarten Soccer!

Since 1993, Kindergarten Soccer has been introducing children to soccer in a fun and non-competitive environment, where girls and boys develop friendships, learn teamwork, and gain confidence.  Games are played on Saturday mornings at Richardson Field in Waban, starting April 5th. Join in and meet other Newton families! The Kindergarten League is open to all Newton children who are currently in kindergarten; the Pre-K League is open to all Newton children who will start kindergarten in the fall of 2014.
