2021 Pumpkin Smash

Green your Halloween at Newton’s annual Pumpkin Smash on November 6 from 1pm-4pm at City Hall War Memorial. Pre-registration is encouraged, otherwise onsite registration will be available. RSVP and share this event.

What will you do with your pumpkin after Halloween? You could put it in with your yard waste, but how much more fun would it be to smash it? This family friendly event will be focused on options to manage food/organic waste in Newton. All smashed pumpkins will be composted by Black Earth Composting. When you compost your pumpkin, you are reducing waste, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating a valuable amendment for our soils. It’s going to be a smashing time!

Remember to:

  • Make sure you remove any candles or decorations from your pumpkin (paint is okay)
  • Bring unwanted candy to be donated to our troops
  • Bring old unwanted costumes and maybe find next year’s at the Costume Swap

Participants skate twice per week (once on Saturday and once on Sunday). One day is structured around skills progression while the other day is dedicated to scrimmages. This is a 16-week program that begins in mid-November and ends in mid-March.
