Scarecrow Requirements:
1. Please make the Scarecrow free standing if possible- we do have spots where we can lean scarecrows against trees and such if necessary.
2. Make it able to withstand the elements as much as possible- so no newspaper stuffing please- if you need to stuff it use leaves or hay if possible.
3. Theme scarecrows are great! Please tell us your scarecrow’s name prior to the event for the sponsor cards.
4. Please drop off the Scarecrow by Thursday Oct. 20th and pick up by Wednesday Oct. 26 (if this is not possible email us and we will send someone to get it!)
5. Finally, we have a scavenger hunt for kids on that day so if you could send me a good question about the scarecrow it can be included in the scavenger hunt!
6. Additionally, we are taking a few scarecrows over to the Highlands Haunted House on Oct. 30 to decorate outside. If you want your scarecrow to also be displayed there, please let us know. You will have to pick up the scarecrow immediately after the event.

Brooklyn-based trio, Rolie Polie Guacamole, is a children’s jam band. Their songs are original, and parents like the positive influence their songs have about healthy eating and staying active. Come hear them in concert at the Brookline Music School, 25 Kennard Rd., on Sunday, November 6, at 2:00pm. Tickets are $5/each

On November 18, the Albert Angier Elementary School is having a 90th Birthday Celebration at the Windsor Club, 1608 Beacon Street, at 7:30pm~ “Angier Through the Decades.” All adults are invited!

The Angier Celebrates 90th Committee is looking for Angier alumni. We hope you will attend the celebration and share your memories of being a student at Angier. We welcome class photos, too. Send your memories and photos, as well as RSVP to the celebration to angiercelebrates90@gmail.com. The donation for this event is $25 per person. The proceeds from this event will benefit the preservation of Angier’s historical documents and well as a Time Capsule for the next generation of students and neighbors.

Don’t miss out! An Olympic medalist and a NASA award-winning astrophysicist are among the speakers at Newton Inspires: An Evening of Ideas and Community, hosted by the Newton Schools Foundation. Join prominent Newtonians in small group sessions as they discuss their passions, share their insights, and inspire participants with their stories.

This FREE event will take place Thursday October 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Newton North High School.

More than two dozen speakers representing an array of fields and interest areas will address topics ranging from education, business, government and economics to sports, arts, entertainment and life. Participants choose three 20-minute sessions to attend. At the end of the evening, participants and speakers will gather together to debrief and reconnect over coffee and dessert.

Brookline Music School presents “An Evening of Piano Trios”
Saturday, October 22, 2011, 7:30 at Brookline Music School – FREE!

Brookline Music School (BMS) presents An Evening of Piano Trios with Susan Jensen on violin, Darry Dolezal on cello and Paul Jacobs on piano. The concert will perform Beethovan’s Allegretto Wo0 39, Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 1, and Martin Boykan’s Piano Trio No. 3 “Rites of Passage” inspired by artwork of Susan Schwalb.

An Evening of Piano Trios is one of Brookline Music School’s yearly faculty concerts, performed and presented by BMS piano faculty Paul Jacobs. BMS’ renowned faculty offers an array of unique and educational concerts throughout the year at the Kennard House and at numerous community locations. The superb quality of educational offerings at BMS is made possible by the high level of arts education, musicianship and pedagogical experience of the faculty, with over half of its internationally trained faculty members holding a Masters degree or higher.

Theatre Ink 2011/12 season opens with Moliere’s “Tartuffe” a hilarious and outrageous classic comedy directed by Dan Fabrizio

Tartuffe, a roguish imposter, worms his way into the orderly household of prosperous yet naive merchant Orgon. He sets out to marry the daughter, seduce the wife, imprison Orgon and get his hands on the family fortune. With thwarted lovers, eavesdropping and the famous ‘under the table scene’, one of the funniest comic set pieces ever written for the stage. Tartuffe is performed with a relevance that will delight modern-day audiences.
