Rhythmic Dreams, an afterschool rhythmic gymnastics program for girls located on Washington St. in West Newton, is offering a fun workshop for girls ages 4-16 on Saturday, March 31st, from 10am to 12pm. The workshop will include a warm-up, stretching, basic apparatus handling, and tosses/catches, with ribbons, balls, and clubs! The girls will also learn a short dance to music. Younger girls (ages 4-6) will be using ribbons and balls, and older girls (ages 7+) will learn one of rhythmic gymnastics’ trickiest apparatus- clubs. The cost is $20 for two hours. Suzuki School of Newton
Suzuki School of Newton, 225 Nevada Street, Newtonville is pleased to offer a free trial class of the Suzuki Prep class for ages 3 and 4 held on Friday, February 10th at 1 pm, Saturday Feb. 11th at 10 am or Sat. Feb. 11th at 1:45 pm. This is a fun way to share time with your child: sing, move to music, do pre-instrumental Suzuki activities, and hear live instrument demonstrations from the SSN faculty. Students and parents will learn new songs, work on pitch, rhythm and meter and receive help in choosing an instrument. The class lasts 45 minutes and there are 14 more classes in the semester. Bridging the Generations: An Intergenerational Music Class
Join us for a special kind of music-making! This class combines all the elements of a regular music class, but it is set in a senior living facility, where the residents participate with us by singing, playing instruments, or simply watching. The class allows for and encourages interaction between the children and the seniors. With rhythm instruments, songs, play materials and movement, we create a rich musical experience for everyone.

School of Rock introduces “Jazz Jams”
School of Rock introduces a new Sunday afternoon course for kids – “Jazz Jams”, which will meet every Sunday from 2-5 PM at our 120 Elm Street in Watertown location. Recommended for students ages 11-18. All instruments welcome -singers too. Start on either 2/12 or 2/19 – (your choice) and learn jazz standards by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, and many more under the direction of Berklee-affiliated instructor Patrick Speece. Enrollment is on a month-by-month basis; performances in the local community when the ensemble feels ready. Only 12 students accepted at a time into this program.
