Dear Bigelow Community,
Team Anya will be participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk and we would love for you to join us in the effort to push forward pediatric cancer research. We are new to the Bigelow community (our son is in 6th grade here) and our family is forever grateful for the way that the Newton community has shown up for us over the past few years since our daughter, Anya, was diagnosed at 7-years old with an aggressive bone cancer called osteosarcoma. After intensive chemotherapy and multiple surgeries including a leg amputation, Anya has had 2-years of clear scans and is thriving as a 4th grader at Cabot Elementary.
This fundraiser is deeply personal for us as 90% of the Team Anya funds will be allocated to the research of Dr. Katherine Janeway, a leader in the field who specializes in metastatic osteosarcoma. The other 10% of the funds will go to a general Dana Farber research fund. Please consider donating and sharing this team link with your social networks. Scroll to the bottom of the site to donate to the team or to any individual team members (all the Team Anya funds go to the same impactful place.)

If you’d like to register to join Team Anya for the walk on October 6th, we’ll be doing the 10k portion starting at the BC Law School. To register, there is a fundraising commitment, and if you have questions or concerns about meeting the minimum, please be in touch (jenjo4@gmail.com).
In our journey, we have met kids who survived cancer and we have met bereaved families. We have met kids who have relapsed and kids whose treatment is ongoing. And while every story of pediatric cancer is different, there is always the reality of being dependent on the research and the doctors to provide the best care possible. Please consider donating and inviting others in your network to contribute.
Thank you!
Jeni Rhodes
