New Trees at Bigelow are part of the 4C Tree Project

The Bigelow PTO has sponsored 3 trees as part of Green Newton’s  4C Tree Project, which aims to honor the memory of lives lost to COVID-19 by celebrating life through the planting of trees in public spaces in Newton.

The trees have been planted this week along Park Street and our community will have the privilege to take care of them.

Thanks to the contribution of hundreds of donors, including several PTOs, the City was able to order 170 trees and has started planting. A tree memorial dedication ceremony  is scheduled at 2pm on Saturday, May 1 in front of the Mason Rice School (149 Pleasant Street, Newton Centre). Arrive at 1:15pm if you want to help planting :-).

Spearheaded by Green Newton’s Environmental Youth Leadership Program, the Capture Carbon Commemorate COVID-19 Tree Project (4C Tree Project) hopes to demonstrate the resilience of our City through difficult times and its commitment to a healthy ecosystem. Learn more and donate at www.greennewton.org/trees
