Fitness classes

Matt Wilson, NPS parent and  fitness and nutrition (NSCA & Precision Nutrition) trainer offers the following “Bridge to April Break” Session – a 5 week session of fitness classes in Oak Hill Park.

•Beginner’s Exercise Group – Wednesday Nights at 7:00 pm to be held if at least 6 people sign up. It will be a low to no impact class that focuses on movement, range of motion and strength building. The ultimate goal of this class is to prepare you (whether over the course of one or several sessions) to eventually move up to more advanced classes. The pace will be slow, and you may not sweat a lot, but the idea is to make sure you learn proper movement and show you that you are indeed capable of much more than you may believe. This class will be intentionally the small for a great instructor to participant ration. (minimum of 6, maximum of 8 – $20.00 for drop ins, $75.00 for the 5 week session).

•Monday and/or Wednesday Morning Class – 9:00 am – this class will focus on a combination of cardio and strength building. It is a step up from the Beginner’s Group. Depending on the group make up,  the focus will be on building up your cardio endurance while continuing to develop your core and overall strength. (minimum of 6, maximum of 12 – $20.00 for drop in, $75.00 for one day per week, $125.00 for 2 days per week).

•Monday and/or Thursday Night Boot Camp* – 7:00 pm – this class is the original – starting with a warm-up and a game, moving on to raising the heart rate, usually finishing with some core work. Any and all levels are happily accepted. (minimum of 5, maximum of 12 – $20.00 for drop in, $75.00 for one day per week, $125.00 for 2 days per week)

•Monday through Friday 6:00 am Morning Call – this class will require some dedication but is guaranteed to give you the best results. It is a 25 day session that involves a combination of strength, cardio and HIIT classes. (minimum of 8 people to commit to coming 5 mornings per week, maximum of 12 – $8.00 per class with a 5 day, 5 week commitment ($200.00) plus you need to purchase and bring a pair of 5 to 10 lbs dumbbells).

Below is a link to a Doodle Poll that will allow you to reserve a spot in the class or classes you would like. Once the minimum is reached on any of those classes, you can assume that the class will be held (starting next week). The Boot Camps* have already met their minimal requirements and will be held. Once the snow melts and class moves outside, the max on those two classes will be lifted. The other classes however will maintain their caps.

CPR/ AED TRAINING

Anyone can learn CPR – and everyone should! Sadly, 70 percent of Americans may feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they either do not know how to administer CPR or their training has significantly lapsed. This alarming statistic could hit close to home, because home is exactly where 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur. Put very simply: The life you save with CPR is mostly likely to be someone you love.

Don’t be afraid; your actions can only help. If you see an unresponsive adult who is not breathing or not breathing normally, call 911 and push hard and fast on the center of the chest.

March 15th, 1:00 – 2:30 pm. $45.00
