Full-time position available

Exciting full-time position available with a small, dynamic team in residential real estate. Agent is based in Newton Centre and is looking for an Administrative Coordinator. This role will require someone with good attention to detail, well organized, solid communication skills, serious focus, successful multi-tasker, resourceful, a problem-solver and enjoys interacting with customers. Busy season is February-May and they are looking for someone to fill this position immediately. Prior work experience in a fast paced and/or real estate environment is a plus. A MA Salesperson license is preferred, but if you do not hold a license currently, they will gladly sponsor you for the course and testing process. Salary is competitive and based on experience and there are also alternative ways to make more income through other avenues within the team. Summer Learning Camps and Classes

The Chyten Center in Newton is offering a series of hands-on, real-life learning camps and classes for elementary and middle-school this summer.

Younger programs (Grades 2-5) include:
Shark Tank Jr. (Create your own business, just like on the TV show!)
Imagination Authors (Write your own novel and have it fully published)
Team Titans (Run your own baseball team and learn math in the process!)
The Literature Circle (Learn how to comprehend and analyze great children’s literature)
Discover My World (Do online research, learn Google Earth and design a “World’s Fair” with Legos)
Kids Career Time (Study, roleplay and experience five adult professions: Doctor, lawyer, architect, journalist and mayor)

Older programs (ages 11-14) include:
Writing Masters: The Muckrakers (Be part of a real newsroom and publish an online and print newspaper)
Vocabulary Masters: Drama Dictionary (Create an online video dictionary of advanced English vocabulary)

Teen Crafternoons, Tuesday, March 4, 3:30 pm
Get creative in the second floor Teen Area of the Newton Free Library where we will be hanging out working on crafts and eating snacks. No registration necessary. Just drop by.

Mother-Daughter Book Club, Wednesday, March 5, 7:00 pm
Join us in the second floor Teen Area of the Newton Free Library for the Mother-Daughter Book Club. The group will discuss The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason. Registration is required. Get Hooked: Knitting and Crochet Club, Thursday, March 6, 7:00 pm
Join us in the second floor Teen Area of the Newton Free Library for the ongoing Knitting and Crochet Club. The club meets the first Thursday of the month. Beginners are welcome! We have crochet hooks, knitting needles, yarn and the know-how to teach the basics of crocheting. You are welcome to bring your own project, share ideas and conversation. Refreshments will be served. Open to ages 10 and up.

Choose from a range of garden-focused classes as well as how to keep chickens here in Newton.

For families and youngsters, our popular Farm Sprout program returns as does “Ready Set Grow”, our family gardening program.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” at NewtonNorth, March 13-16

Theatre Ink, Newton North’s award-winning theatre troupe, presents: Thoroughly Modern Millie, directed and choreographed by Brad Jensen. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is an evening of madcap merriment.

A high-spirited musical romp that takes place in the roaring ‘20’s, the show tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to New York City in search of a new life at a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Celebrate GELF’s 5th Birthday on March 8

Newton’s Global Education Leadership Fund (GELF) is five years old. Join 150 members of our community for chef’s favorites, wine, and live entertainment to benefit lower-income Newton students aspiring to participate in international educational programs. The dinner is on Saturday, March 8th, 6:30-10:30 pm at Newton North High School.

This year alone GELF has funded:

· $33,000 in grants to
· 28 students for
· 10 different international trips

Newton Has Talent 2014

Newton Has Talent 2014: Announcing that Matt Siegel, from Matty in the Morning Radio show on Kiss 108 is going to be the MC this year!!!

The Rotary Club of Newton is proud to once again present the area’s premiere Talent Show – Newton Has Talent! 2014. Now in its second year, the contest is open to virtually any act, and talent of all ages 13+ are invited to compete for the $1,000 first Prize. All proceeds will support the Rotary Club of Newton’s community service projects benefiting local organizations.

Entry deadline is now extended through February 25th at midnight. So if you were procrastinating you still have time to get your act in! Live performance by the top ten finalists will be on March 30th at Newton North High School. For more information and to submit, go to www.newtonhastalent.org.
