Volleyball Camp

Learn essential skills in a fun and safe environment. Work on forearm and overhead passing, setting, attacking, blocking, serving, positional play, and offensive and defensive strategies, integrating games, competitions, and recreational activities. Enjoy a recreational swim period each day. For Grades 3-12.

Free Sunday Concert

Under the dynamic leadership of writer, composer, singer Ras Michael I, Jah Spirit blends an African-Reggae beat with elements of calypso jazz, blues and rock. Ras Michael, a native of Trinidad, captivates his audiences with spellbinding lyrics and a stage presence that has been described as charismatic, highly energetic and spirited. Bring your family, a picnic, a chair/blanket to sit on, and your dancin’ shoes to the first of four terrific free summer concerts on Sunday evenings in July! Free Summer Concert for Kids

Launching her music career as a member of the New York-based girl group “The Chiclettes,” Stacey Peasley developed a deep love and appreciation for the innocent, yet catchy songs of the girl-group era. A teacher for ten years and a professional singer for twenty-five, Peasley combines her love of children and music into a lively act that engages kids and creates memorable and fun sing-along songs. Kids’ Morning
July 4th, 10:00 am – 12 Noon, Newton Centre Playground at Tyler Terrace.
Free event for children ages 3 – 12 years. Children and families are invited to join in the Grande Pet Parade, Decorated Doll Carriage Promenade, Teddy Bear Parade and Foot Races. Free ice cream, candy and drinks complete the morning celebration – courtesy of Cabot’s Ice Cream. Kids Morning is cancelled in the event of rain.

Afternoon/Evening Events
July 4th, 12 Noon – 10:00 pm – Albemarle Field/Halloran Sports Complex
The fun continues with kiddie amusement rides, face painting, craft vendor booths and food trucks. The free entertainment at the Gazebo is provided by Constantine the Magician, the YCCA Band and Caribbean music by D’Allegro Band from DESFOB, Inc. Then, the fun moves over to the main stage with the fabulous Bo & Bill Winiker Band for more music and dancing from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Bring lawn chairs, try out the delicious food from the many food trucks and pick up your light-up novelties. At 9:00 pm, don’t miss the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display! Summer Time for Partners

Long-running Art & Music classes for children 18 months to 3½ years (accompanied by an adult) run by the Mayor’s Office for Cultural affairs, in its summer home of Franklin Elementary School in West Newton.

Learning is FUN with music, dance, art, letters and numbers. Music classes develop physical, verbal, memory and musical skills. Art classes widen a child’s curiosity and build fine motor skills. Air conditioned classrooms in which to learn, explore and make new friends – children as well as adults!

Choose from Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9:30 – 11:15 am. Tuesdays: $100 Newton Resident, $120 Non- Resident. Wednesdays & Thursdays: $120 Newton Resident, $140 Non-Resident. Dinner on the Farm 2017 with Guest Chefs from Farmstead Table!

Join the annual Dinner on the Farm, a beautiful evening of fantastic food, breathtaking views of the Newton Community Farm’s fields, and the company of others who share your love of your local community farm.

And new this year…. welcome Chad and Sharon Burns of Farmstead Table, who will be preparing the meal. They are designing a special menu, highlighting fresh produce from the farm.

The registration deadline is July 5th. $75.00 for Friends of the Farm, and $85.00 for non-Friends of the Farm. Your ticket covers the cost of the dinner, and an additional contribution to NCF education programs. Please visit the website for information and registration.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson

The West Suburban YMCA is providing free swim lessons to children of all ages on June 22nd at the following times:
9:15 – 10:00 am
11:15 – 12:00 pm
12:00 – 12:45 pm
3:15 – 4:00 pm

Elementary Meet and Greet with the Newton Mustangs Football and Cheer Organization
