Newtonville Village Day & Jazz Festival

Discover Newtonville, and all its merchants and businesses that will open their doors to welcome neighbors and visitors!  Walnut Street in Newtonville will be closed to traffic and transformed into a lively street fair. With two sound stages, a Roaming Railroad for kiddie rides, 100 craft booths and informational stands, an Open House at the Norumbega Fraternity Lodge of Masons featuring a bounce house and carnival games and fun activities for kids, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

The Senior Center Sound Stage features a talented line-up of jazz musicians, sponsored by New England Jazz Productions. The Austin Street Sound Stage will also delight the crowds with an afternoon of performances by local dance studios, martial arts demonstrations and local young musicians. Pumpkin Patch at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport!

Bring the whole family to the Seashore Trolley Museum for the 16th Annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley! Hop aboard a vintage streetcar to the Pumpkin Patch, find your favorite pumpkin and decorate it, and win some prizes playing games at the fall carnival. Once you’ve scored the prizes you’re after, finish up your streetcar ride and then enjoy roaming the Museum grounds. Your pumpkin will be tagged for you to pick up at the Visitors’ Center before you leave. Seashore Trolley Museum is the world’s oldest and largest electric railway museum. Columbus Day Basketball Clinic in Newton

A Columbus Day school vacation basketball clinic for children in grades K-5 will be held on October 13th from 9:00 am-3:00 pm at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center, 333 Nahanton Street, Newton. Children will develop dribbling, passing and shooting skills and will engage in games with children of similar age and ability. Program is led by youth recreation specialist Peter Sylvester. Father Daughter Dance

Dancing with the Brookline Stars invites you to join a Father Daughter Dance at the Brookline Teen Center for 8th graders and younger. On Sunday, October 12th from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm,  share a fun filled evening with your little girl including a DJ, games, food, photographs & more! Semi-formal attire requested.

Auditions for Children’s Chorus

VOICES BOSTON (formerly PALS Children’s Chorus) is currently holding auditions for its 25th season! Students in grades K-12 are welcome to audition for the chorus, which offers vocal training and music literacy in a strong and caring community of peers and teachers. The oldest students also receive training in drama and dance, and have opportunities to participate in tours. Children will gain experience and confidence in this friendly, supportive group as they prepare for and perform multiple concerts a year. Car Wash / Bake Sale – This Friday Sept 19

Is your car getting a little dirty?  Let the 8th grade Bigelow class get it cleaned up for you.  Friday, September 19, 3 – 5 pm, in the Bigelow Parking Lot.  Cost: $10   And if you are a little hungry, there will also be a bake sale.

All proceeds go towards 8th grade graduation activity and field trip expenses.

LAST CHANCE TO VOLUNTEER – School Directory Advertising

We are still looking for one or two people to lead the Bigelow student directory advertising effort.  This effort needs to get done soon so we can get the printed directories out on schedule.  The past few years we have sold advertising space to local organizations and businesses to support the Bigelow PTO and programs for the school.  This project lasts for approximately one month, 4-5 hours per week and can be done during off hours and primarily through email.  If you are interested or have questions, please email us at bigelowbulldog@gmail.com  PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING TO HELP WITH THIS.
