Thank you auction volunteers!

Thank you to our generous Bigelow community for donating and participating in our annual online auction. As a reminder, all funds raised are used to support Bigelow performing arts, technology, literature, cultural events and lots more for our children and the school.

A special thanks to our parent volunteers:

And a big thank you to Bigelow teachers for donating their time and talents to the auction!

Call for Volunteers Interested in Gardening: Sunday May 21st

Along with our partners at the Newton Housing Authority and Newton Community Farm, Newton Neighbors is launching a project to plant container gardens for eligible seniors at the Horace Mann Housing Complex (corner of Watertown and Walker Streets, Newtonville).

This project is a great way to get outdoors, meet your neighbors, and help beautify the space at the Horace Mann Complex. It is also a great project for kids!  We welcome volunteers of all ages and experience levels.

The project will take place on Sunday, May 21, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Volunteers can sign up for one or more two-hour shifts at https://www.tinyurl.com/NNcontainergarden.

Please contact Susan Vaughn at susanv@newtonneighbors.org with any questions.

Reduced Fare MBTA Student Charlie Cards are available at Bigelow!

Encourage your student to pick up their MBTA Student Charlie Card from the Bigelow main office this spring. The card lets students ride the MBTA at the reduced fare rate ($0.85 for regular bus, $1.10 for subway). The card comes empty so you will need to add value to it at an MBTA station.

The Student Charlie Card isn’t just for school travel; it also works on the subway, express buses, and commuter rail and is valid through August 31 so will work all summer for your student to get around.

Questions about the card? Reach out to NewtonSafeRoutes@gmail.com
