Registration opens by Oct. 1st:  Newton Community Education (NCE) is in partnership with the Newton Athletic Association (NAA), a non-profit volunteer-run organization manages and administers basketball leagues in Newton. Leagues are for players from the third grade through high school. The league is generally considered a boys league but girls are welcome to play. All players welcome regardless of ability or experience.  An evaluation clinic is coming up in October to balance the teams.  There are 10-12 games on Saturdays and Sundays.  Practices one night each week.  Program runs Mid-November through Mid-March.  Fee: (scholarships available) $120 with discounts for additional players from one family.  Information and application online at www.naabasketball.org.  Application deadline Oct. 20th.

Down Under Yoga in Newtonville offers a variety of yoga programs for children and teenagers from pre-school through high school, with classes starting this week for ages 11-14 and teens.Classes are grouped by age to ensure that the content is appropriate and to foster a sense of community in which students support each other and learn to take the lessons yoga teaches out into the world around them.
