Looking for a homestay family for this summer

We are a family of 4 living in Newton and we have good friends from Barcelona who are looking for a homestay family for their 16 years old son in the Boston area for this summer. Henry Turner is the principal of Bedford High School. Previously he was a housemaster at Newton South High School. Henry began his career as a history teacher at Lexington High School. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Henry has a master’s degree from Framingham State College, and earned his doctorate from Boston College.

Jeffrey Gaglione is a dean and math department head at Cambridge, Rindge and Latin. Earlier he was the math department chair at Lowell High School. Jeff was a math teacher at both Framingham High School, and West Orange High School (NJ). A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), he has two master’s degrees from Boston College.

Teacher Appreciation Lunch – TOMORROW

thSign up to help with our annual teacher appreciation luncheon taking place this Wednesday, February 3rd.

We are looking for parents to provide a luncheon item, dessert, drinks, paper goods or flowers. We are also in need of volunteers to help us set up and clean up. Set up is at 10:30am and clean up is at 12:15pm.

  • All items may be dropped off the morning of the luncheon in the teacher’s lunchroom or put in the refridgerator there. Please drop off all items no later than 10:30am.
  • Items can also be dropped off at Stacy’s home at 15 Park Ave. until 10pm the evening of Feb 2.
  • It is most helpful if items are brought in a recyclable container. Please send in your favorite lunch food!
  • Salads, sandwiches, entrees; whatever you think our wonderful teachers and staff will enjoy.

YOUR HELP NEEDED to plan the Big Night on Feb 4th

WE CAN NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOUR HELP!!  We have big and small tasks available, so please come to learn more about getting involved.  And it is a great way to meet other Bigelow parents.

The NEW date for this meeting is Thursday February 4th.  Please consider joining in to plan our biggest parent social event of the year!  We can NOT do it without your help.

When and Where:  Thursday February 4th,  7-8:30 pm at 5 Channing Road– Drinks and snacks provided!

Last year’s Big Night was one of our most successful and fun ever ~ great food, music and dancing, a wonderful venue and lots of auction items!!  This year we are planning the event on May 14th at the Commander’s Mansion in Watertown.  Please come to learn more and to be a part of the planning for this fun event–we need lots of volunteers to help make it a success!

To all 8th Grade Parents / Guardians:

From the 8th Grade Car Wash to the NYC / Quebec City Trips to Graduation, it’s going to be a great spring for our 8th graders!

Please join us to learn about 8th grade year end activities and help plan them.  Many hands make for a lighter load. Consider offering your  time and talent- we could really use your help. It’s also great way to get to know more Bigelow parents.  We’ll have refreshments and light snacks.

Pizza Day is Tomorrow!!

imagesTomorrow is Pizza Day at Bigelow.  All proceeds will support 8th grade cultural trip scholarships and underwrite year end activities.

NEW LOCATION:  Students can come and have a slice or two after school in the Gym Lobby.  $2 per slice.
