Thank you to those who volunteered at Beautify Bigelow last Saturday! We weeded, mulched, and planted perennials to enjoy this Fall and over 100 bulbs to look forward to this Spring. Volunteers also picked up trash throughout the school grounds.

Looking for a night out? The Newton North Field Hockey program is hosting a “Parents Night Out” FUNdraiser! On October 21st from 6:00-8:00 pm, parents can drop off their kids at Newton North to be babysat by the field hockey program! There will be sports, tag games, arts and crafts and other activities.

Thank you to all who attended our first PTO meeting of the 2023-24 school year Tuesday evening! It was great to see both new and familiar faces and discuss ideas to support our school and build community.
There are many ways to be involved in the PTO. Keep an eye out for upcoming community events, programs for our students, donations for teacher & staff appreciation, and fundraisers.
We are also actively recruiting additional volunteers to help with our Spring Auction. Please email bigelowbulldog@gmail.com if you are interested in this or any of the other PTO committees.

Bring your gardening gear and tools and join the Bigelow PTO Saturday, October 14th from 10 am to 1 pm for Beautify Bigelow Day. The entire Bigelow Community is welcome. We will plant, clean, weed, and mulch in the front entrance beginning at 10 am.
All volunteers are welcome to drop in for any amount of time. Every contribution counts!
Please join Principal Coston, the Newton METCO program, Bigelow PTO, Bigelow FORJ, and our Boston and Newton families this Sunday, October 15th at the Shattuck Picnic Grove in Franklin Park from 1:30-3:30 pm for fall fun and connections as we start the 2023 school year!

A citywide collaborative group of parents and educators have joined forces over the past three years to advocate for our schools. Currently their focus has been on supporting the Newton Teachers’ Association (NTA) in obtaining a fair contract. If you would like to find ways to support our teachers, please consider signing up for newsletters from the Parent Educator Collaborative (PEC). If you would like to learn more about the PEC, check out this OP-ED from Fig City News.
As you know, the T in PTO stands for teacher. This is a chance to hear more from our educators’ perspective.
