Creative Arts and Sciences Update

The Klezmer Conservatory Band is coming to Bigelow Thursday, October 24th!

Sponsored in full by your PTO contributions, through the Creative Arts and Sciences Committee.

The Klezmer Conservatory Band presents educational programs on Klezmer and Yiddish music. During their concert, they will introduce the Yiddish language, look into the varied cultural sources out of which Klezmer music arose, and explore the place of music in Jewish culture.  Throughout the program, Klezmer invites the audience to participate by asking questions, singing along to songs of love and work, and clapping to traditional songs. By the end of the program, the students will have been introduced to traditional Klezmer instruments and will have had a glimpse of Yiddish culture through its music.

From the Washington Post “….the ensemble’s uninhibited verve translates into any language and will no doubt leave anyone inclined to dance along gasping for air.”

This concert will be repeated for all grades.

Stay tuned for descriptions of our many grade-specific Creative Arts and Sciences programs happening throughout the year!
