February is “Love Your Library” Month at Bigelow
Keeping the library collection new and exciting supports our goal to promote a love of reading throughout the Bigelow community. Consider donating a book in honor of a student or in recognition of a staff member through the Bound to Stay Bound Books. When a book is purchased through this website, it receives a special binding to help the book last longer, and it will include a nameplate with an honoree and donor inscription. Generation Citizen Program – Cluster 8E
Note from Jean Singers, Bigelow Grade 8 History/Social Science Teacher
Dear Bigelow Parents,
Cluster 8E will be piloting a program known as Generation Citizen this spring. Generation Citizen is a non-profit organization that has created an “action civics” curriculum.
Action Civics empowers students to identify issues in their school or community, research the root cause, and implement an action plan to change it. Parent volunteers are needed to be part of a “working group” along with our family engagement team that will support and advise implementation of the pilot program. The commitment is two meetings at Bigelow convenient to the working group. This program is part of Bigelow’s goal of increasing family and community engagement. Please contact me at jean_singers@newton.k12.ma.us if you have any questions.
Thank You!Jean Singers
