Free Running Clinic for Kids Running in Heartbreak Hill Race

Kids ages 8 to 18  running in the 20th anniversary Newton Heartbreak Hill Road Race on April 15  are invited to the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club (675 Watertown St., Newtonville) on Sunday, March 25th at  2:30 PM for a free running clinic.

Rick Muhr, a twelve time Boston Marathon qualifier and experienced coach who has trained thousands of runners throughout the world will host the clinic. He’ll teach kids proper running technique and help them prepare for the Heartbreak Hill Road Race.

Preregistration is not required for the clinic, which will last approximately 90 minutes.  Families are welcome and participants should wear proper clothing and footwear for athletic activity.

Newton East Little League Spring Baseball Registration closes March 1

Now is your last chance to register for Farm, College, Cooperstown and Majors Divisions of the Newton East Little League.

Tryouts for Cooperstown and Majors are scheduled for Thursday, March 1, and Sunday, March 4, respectively. T-Ball registration will be open until March 31, 2012. For more information, tryout schedules and to register, visit NELL’s website.

BC Women’s Soccer Clinic over April Vacation

The Boston College Women’s Soccer program will be hosting its annual April Vacation Clinic from April 17 – April 20. A Step Ahead Basketball (ASA Hoops): Tryouts & Vacation Clinic

Newton Kindergarten Soccer Registration is open for Spring 2012!

Kindergarten Soccer is a fun and non-competitive soccer program for all Newton boys and girls of kindergarten age and has been a program of the Zervas Elementary PTO since 1993.  Games are held on Saturday mornings at Richardson Field in Waban.  Join us and meet other Kindergarten families in your neighborhood.  Late Registrations are accepted on a space available basis.

Watertown Jr. Reds AAU Baseball Program

Seeking Players for 2012 13U Spring season

Looking to raise your game to new level? Becoming a member of the Jr. Reds AAU Baseball program will offer that opportunity and a whole lot more. Don’t wait to join the area’s most exciting up and coming programs.

The Watertown Jr. Reds AAU Baseball Program will be holding tryouts for its 13U squad during the team’s Winter Practices in January and February. There is NO COST to tryout. Registration and Waiver forms can be found on the program’s website to be filled out before participating.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR MOST LEAGUES ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 31!

On-line registration for the 2012 Spring baseball season is open for boys and girls ages 4 to 12. These programs run from April through the middle of June:

  • T-BALL – kindergarten or entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2012;
  • Farm Division – 1st and 2nd grade;
  • College Division – 3rd-6th grade: This division is a developmental league;
  •  Cooperstown Division – 3th through 6th grade: This division is a more advanced league. Players who wish to play in the Cooperstown Division must attend the tryout. Little League age 12 players may play in this division by waiver only;
  •  Major League Division – 4th through 7th grade: Open to players who are aged 10 to 12. To be placed on a Major League team you must try out.
