Abbey Villa Soccer Club

Abbey Villa S.C. with twenty-four teams has expanded to Newton and offering (2) free soccer clinics for B/G U8 – U12 on 5/25 and 6/1/12 from 5:30pm-6:30pm at Orr Field at 992 Dedham St, Newton, MA.

We will hold tryouts early June for our Newton based Teams. These teams will train and play their home games in Newton!

ASA Hoops & Nike basketball

NAA MUSTANGS YOUTH FOOTBALL

The NAA Mustangs have served Newton since 1962 as part of the Pop Warner football program. As of May 2012 the Mustangs have moved to the AMERICAN YOUTH FOOTBALL to better serve the children of Newton.

There are a few important changes to be noted.

This is a grade based system. You play on a team based on your grade in school. For example all fourth graders play with and against other fourth graders.
We will now play in the BAY STATE LEAGUE (same teams NNHS plays), part of AMERICAN YOUTH FOOTBALL our opponents will be:
Milton, Natick, Needham, Norwood, Walpole, Wellesley, Weymouth, Framingham.

The Newton Athletic Association (NAA) Board is also pleased to announce that we are in the process of organizing an exciting night of football, cheerleading and fun to officially kick-off our preparation for a successful 2012 season.

Registration open for fall Newton Girls Soccer

Newton Girls Soccer provides a wonderful learning and playing opportunity to girls in grades K-12  on over 100 teams.  The Club is committed to providing an environment appropriate for the levels of skill, competitiveness and commitment level of each NGS player by providing a variety of programs that match the characteristics of the individual player. NGS currently offers a recreational program (Intramural, K-8th grade), a travel program (BAYS participation, U9-U18) and, integrated with the travel program, a specialized training program for our most highly committed players.

Fall session runs from September  8th – November 10th. Registration deadline for the Intramural Program is June 30th. Registration deadline for Travel is May 9 -16 depending on the age group.

American youth Football and Cheerleading is coming to Newton

This is a new football and cheerleading league in Newton but American Youth Football has the worlds largest youth football enrollment with 23,000 teams in 50 states. This is a grade based program. Teams will be formed for kids entering Grades 3 thru 8 in the fall. Those entering 2ndgrade are eligible to play on the 3rd grade team.

Registration is beginning now and teams will be formed by Mid-May. Please sign up as soon as possible once a team (grade) is full registration will be closed. Teams are formed based on first come first served – not ability or size based. This is a developmental program – no try outs.

Practices may begin in August in the evenings (after camp and work). We will need plenty of coaches and parent assistants – so if you love football or cheer – please join us.

Soccer Camp

Run Leo Run: Free Running Clinic

Run Leo Run: Free Running Clinic with Newton Marathoner!

Marathoner and Newton South ‘11 graduate Leo Westebbe will lead a free running clinic for kids, teens and novice runners.  The clinic is prime preparation for young and old alike running in the April 15 Heartbreak Hill Road Race.  Join Leo, Charles d’Hemecourt from the Division of Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston, and local running experts in running stretches, drills and techniques, discuss nutrition, and take a practice run around the Newton North Track facility.  Families are welcome and participants should wear proper clothing and footwear for athletic activity.

Leo is running the 2012 Boston Marathon to raise money for the Newton Schools Foundation, whose mission is to support the Newton Public Schools. The NSF is currently raising funds to secure the technology, tools and teacher training to transform teaching and learning in Newton and prepare our kids for the challenges of tomorrow.

Register for 1-mile Heartbreak Hill Road Race (ages 8-90)

Registration is now open for Newton’s 20th annual Heartbreak Hill Road Race. This one-mile race on historic Heartbreak Hill takes place Sunday, April 15, beginning at 3PM at Newton City Hall.

The race is open to runners and walkers ages 8-90 (new lower age this year). The first 500 runners registered get a FREE t-shirt and a ticket to the pizza/pasta party on Saturday, 4/14.  Race details and registration information is at the Newton Community Pride website.
