Helmets are mandatory for age 4 1/2 -9 years and recommended for all students. Students must have their own skates.
The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club is holding a free basketball clinic on Saturday, November 10th. for boys & girls, ages 6-15. Newton North Coach Paul Connolly and Newton South Coach Joe Killilea will conduct this year’s clinic with help from current Newton North and Newton South players.
There will be three 2-hour sessions organized by players’ ages:
Ages 6-8: 9:30 a.m. – 11:00a.m.
Ages 9-11: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30p.m.
Ages 12-15: 2:00 p.m. 4:00p.m.

A Step Ahead Basketball is offerings weekly skills classes on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday’s for boys and girls ages 7-14.
We’re also holding school vacation clinics on Veterans Day (11/12) and Thanksgiving weekend (11/23?11/24).

Registration is underway for the upcoming Newton Girls Basketball season. Join the more than 500 players from second graders through high school level who play NGBA basketball.
This is a recreational basketball league for Newton girls and girls attending Newton schools with fun for beginners and experienced players alike!
Games are played on Saturdays for all grades, starting early December and continuing into mid-March.
Registrations deadlines ($15 late fees apply for registrations received after these dates):
October 21 for Grades 3-8
November 2nd for Grade 2
December 1st for High School
Scholarships are available based on need; please see the NGBA website for more details and to register.
Registration is now open for the Newton Athletic Association (NAA) youth basketball leagues. Leagues are for boys and girls from 3rd through 12th grade. All players are welcome regardless of ability or experience. A mandatory evaluation clinic will be held on October 21 (make-up date on October 22) in order to create and balance the teams.
Season includes 10-12 games per league, played on either Saturdays or Sundays. Practices are one night each week, Sunday-Thursday. Program runs mid-November through id-March. Fee: $125 ($95 for each additional player from one family). Information and application online at www.naabasketball.org. Application deadline Oct. 20th.
Join over 325 Newton youth basketball players in the Metrowest travel league. The program stresses basketball skills, sportsmanship, and fun in a competitive environment. Girls and boys in 4th-8th grades who live in Newton or attend Newton schools through the METCO program are eligible to tryout. New players are welcome.
