Learn essential skills in a fun and safe environment. Work on forearm and overhead passing, setting, attacking, blocking, serving, positional play, and offensive and defensive strategies, integrating games, competitions, and recreational activities. Enjoy a recreational swim period each day. For Grades 3-12.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson

Join thousands and kids and families at aquatic facilities around the globe for The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. We’re making a splash to spread the word that Swimming Lessons Save Lives!

The West Suburban YMCA is providing free swim lessons to children of all ages on June 22nd at the following times:
9:15 – 10:00 am
11:15 – 12:00 pm
12:00 – 12:45 pm
3:15 – 4:00 pm

Everyone is welcome. Please call the Y’s Welcome Center at 617-244-6050 to pre-register for one of the swim lessons.

Elementary Meet and Greet with the Newton Mustangs Football and Cheer Organization

Come to a fun evening of football and cheer drills! Have any questions about the league? NMYFC Board Members will be there to answer any of your questions. Stop by the sign-up station for any registration concerns.

Newton Kindergarten Soccer registration now open

Registration is now open for Newton Kindergarten Soccer. The fall program is for those children currently in kindergarten in 2017-2018. The games will be at Oak Hill Middle School beginning in September. To be eligible, children must live or attend school in Newton, including private schools. To find out more or to register, please visit http://kindergartensoccer.org/.

Newton Kindergarten Soccer, run by the Zervas PTO, is an introduction to soccer with a focus on making friends, learning teamwork, and developing confidence. Each spring, over 250 incoming kindergarteners and 200 current kindergarteners throughout Newton play in the league.

Players are grouped with other children who either live in the same neighborhood or who attend the same school for kindergarten, so that incoming kindergartners can meet future classmates.

Note that Lincoln-Eliot and Burr families generally participate in Garden City Soccer, and that Memorial Spaulding usually has its own program.

Newton Girls Soccer

Registration is open for Newton Girls Soccer Fall 2017 Juniors and City Programs

Newton Girls Soccer (NGS), the largest girls soccer club in New England, is now accepting registrations for their Juniors and City programs.

The NGS Juniors Program is for girls in grades K-2. The NGS City Program is for girls in grades 3-9. Both programs offer a recreation-focused soccer experience that emphasizes fun, health and exercise, skills development, and teamwork. Players of all skill levels are welcome to register. The fall registration fee is $130.00. Juniors and City Registration is ongoing until August 1st. While you can still register after August 1, but we cannot guarantee placement on a team or friend requests and a $25 late fee will apply. For more details, go to 2017 Fall City Registration.

The Village Day 5K is back on June 11th! We hope parents and children will start the morning off great by participating in our family-oriented Village Day 5K sponsored by Whole Foods Market. $30 per adult, $10 per child. Dance Studio Spring Open House

All That Jazz Dance Studio Spring Open House. All That Jazz is now accepting registration for the 2017-2018 school year, as well as summer classes. The proud winner of the Newton Tab Readers Choice Awards for Best Children’s Dance Studio in Newton since 2011, they specialize in building self-esteem and creating a warm, supportive and nurturing environment for all children as they learn the art of dance. The director, Miss Deb Lifson Vogel is a Newton native and currently has children in the Newton Public Schools.

Summer Basketball Camp: Newton

ASA Hoops is celebrating it’s 20th year offering camps in Newton and surrounding communities. The camps are for boys and girls ages 7-16 and offer a positive environment in which to improves one’s skills. Camps are offered from June 26th to August 24th and can be found at: www.asahoops.com/camps.
