YMCA Camp information

Registration is ongoing and discounts are available if you register at an upcoming events:

Camp Blast-Off Party – a Free Event Open to the Community
May 30th, 4:00-6:00 pm
This free event is open to all, not just families who have already registered for camp this summer. Meet camp directors and counselors and join “camptivities” such as face painting, crafts, family relay races, and gaga ball. Take a tour of the on-site day camps and enter to win a raffle!

Free Skate Park at the Y

The Skate Park at the West Suburban YMCA, made possible with funding from the US Department of Education Carol M. White Physical Education Program, to the Newton Public Schools/Newton Partnership, is supervised at all times and FREE. Skateboarders, razors/scooter, in-line skaters and roller skaters of all ages are welcome. Visitors need to sign in at the Y’s front desk and skaters or parents of participants under 18 must sign a waiver.

Schedule:
· Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 1:00 – 7:00 pm
· Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

Want to learn more about either football or cheer here in Newton? Come to MEET THE MUSTANGS on Saturday, June 6th at the Cove. See what the program has to offer, learn about the Mustang organization, ask any questions about safety, practices or training, and let the kids play. Mustang Football and Cheer coaches will be on-hand to greet your child and lead them through non-contact football drills and cheer fun.

SCHEDULES
Pre-season begins August 3rd and the season opening weekend Kick Off Under the Lights begins September 7th.

REGISTRATION FEES
Football: $275.00 per child/$300.00 per child after June 15th.
Cheer: $250.00 per child/$275.00 per child after June 15th.
Family: $500.00 maximum/$550.00 after June 15th.

Annual Golf Tournament – On Course for a Cause

The West Suburban YMCA’s 12th Annual Golf Tournament is July 20th at Brae Burn Country Club in Newton. When you give to the Y, by playing in or sponsoring our Golf Tournament, you make our community stronger. Your participation helps nurture the potential of children and teens, improve community health and well-being and support our neighbors in need.

There will be draft boundary change scenario maps available for review and a brief description of the context and process to-date. The focus of the forum will be on your comments and feedback which are important to this process. Please join the Student Assignment Working Group for this important opportunity to provide feedback. All scenarios are in draft stage and are subject to change.

The Stars Align – A Music for Food Benefit Concert

The stars align in Newton as Boston’s top musicians come together for a fabulous program of Bartok and Ravel Duos, and Brahms G minor Piano Quartet. Proceeds to support Newton’s four food pantries with the help of Music for Food, an organization founded by Grammy award winning violist, Kim Kashkashian.

MFF sets forth a model applicable in every community to raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger and food insecurity. Now in its 5th year, Music for Food has created over 150,000 meals from the efforts of 75 international artists and ensembles.

Newton Youth Services announces that the next Mayor’s STEM Night will be held on May 18th. Please help spread the word about this exciting opportunity for students. Looking for something to do this summer? Volunteer at the Centre Street Food Pantry! They could use some help stocking shelves, helping shoppers and unloading orders from the GBFB. Green Newton Celebrating

Green Decade Newton will commemorate its 25 years of work for the health and safety of Newton’s environment, an award from the EPA, and its new name – “Green Newton” – at its 25th Anniversary Celebration on June 11th. All are invited to attend.
