When Multiple Kids Equals Multiple Needs

Strong Roots Counseling is now offering a four-part series: When Multiple Kids Equals Multiple Needs.

Every parent of multiple children knows that each child enters the world with their own
temperament and needs. When one of those children’s needs falls outside the box of “typical”, balancing your needs as a parent, as well as the needs of your children can be a challenge.

Join other parents of multiple children who have at least one child with more complex needs than the others in a four-week series. Gain support and learn tools and strategies to find a place within of greater confidence and calm to carry you throughout your parenting journey.

This series is facilitated by Cindy Kaplan, MA, PCI Certified Parent Coach who has been
working with parents and families since 1995. She has a private parent coaching practice, leads a variety of parenting workshops, and is an expert on parenting children with special needs. Cindy is a mother of three, ages 17, 14, and 8, two of whom have special needs.

This series is $300 per person and $500 per couple, and will be held at Strong Roots
Counseling. For more details or to register, please call 857-304-4025 or email us at

Looking for a homestay family for this summer

We are a family of 4 living in Newton. We have good friends from Barcelona who are looking for a homestay family in the Boston area during this summer for their 16 years old son. Ideally with a son of a similar age, looking for the educational and fun experience of having a foreigner living in their home, they could also have a summer camp together. This family is also offering a stay in Barcelona for next summer (2017). If you are interested, please contact Anna Olivella at 617-314-0087 or aolivellaferran@gmail.com.

Seeking a first floor apartment

Dear fellow Newton Parents:

I hope everyone has had a great start to the New Year.

My name is Demarys and I am the mother of two girls, ages 6 and 12. Catherine is in the 6th grade at Day Middle School. Angie attends the Boston College Campus School due to multiple health problems. My younger daughter cannot walk or talk, is legally blind and fed by a G-tube. She is completely dependent on us. We currently live on Cherry Street in an apartment on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a house. Every day I carry Angie up and down the stairs so that she can attend school. As she gets bigger, this is becoming very difficult for me. I would love to find a first floor apartment as this would be more appropriate for my family at this time. This is the reason that I am sending this letter. I have been looking for apartments in Newton and they are very hard to find. I am hoping that with the help of my community, I can find a new apartment. I have written this letter in Spanish and had it translated into English so I hope this makes sense! Please contact me at damarys2012@icloud.com with any information on apartments to rent.

Thank you!
