Register today for the Newton Highlands Village Day 5K

The Village Day 5K is back on June 11th! We hope parents and children will start the morning off great by participating in our family-oriented Village Day 5K sponsored by Whole Foods Market. $30 per adult, $10 per child. Donate to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research

Hannah’s Heroes is a team of Newton athletes competing in the upcoming Cohasset Triathlon on June 25 to benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Countryside moms Catharina Armstrong, Karin Zalkind and Leslie Gonzalez, and Newton Students Hannah (junior at South), Matthew (freshman at South) and Noah (6th grade at Brown) Gonzalez make up the team. Hannah, a junior at Newton South, has type 1 Diabetes.

The more you donate to JDRF, the more chances you get! Donate $25 = 1 ticket, $50 =3 tickets, Donate $100= 8 tickets. Prizes include facials, hair treatments, hydrofacials, and gift certificates from local businesses Indulge, Extra Innings, Sweet Tomatoes, Equinox, Capital Grill, Bebe Spa, Dermatology and Skin Care Associates, Joie de Vie Salon and more!

Dance Studio Spring Open House

All That Jazz Dance Studio Spring Open House. All That Jazz is now accepting registration for the 2017-2018 school year, as well as summer classes. The proud winner of the Newton Tab Readers Choice Awards for Best Children’s Dance Studio in Newton since 2011, they specialize in building self-esteem and creating a warm, supportive and nurturing environment for all children as they learn the art of dance. The director, Miss Deb Lifson Vogel is a Newton native and currently has children in the Newton Public Schools.

Open House: June 12th, 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Teen Study Nights @ the Newton Free Library

The Library will remain open late (until 11:00 pm) during finals this year. Don’t stress! Stop by the auditorium, you’ll have some fun study breaks, like coloring, hula hoops, and snacks. There will also be extra supplies on hand, like paper, highlighters, easels and more. Every night they’ll also have food, like pizza and ice cream. Check here for more information.

New Student-Run Cookie Business

Three Newton South students, Charlie Mirabile, Cameron Gilchrist, and Greg Umansky have recently started a cookie business called Newton Cookie Service. They deliver fresh homemade cookies every Sunday to their subscribers, both traditional recipes and original ones, one recipe per week! It costs $12.00 for one batch, and there is no commitment or minimum subscription time. This Sunday, June 11th will be their second week of deliveries, and the recipe will be chocolate dipped sugar cookies!

Summer Basketball Camp: Newton

ASA Hoops is celebrating it’s 20th year offering camps in Newton and surrounding communities. The camps are for boys and girls ages 7-16 and offer a positive environment in which to improves one’s skills. Camps are offered from June 26th to August 24th and can be found at: www.asahoops.com/camps.
