Looking for a fun place for you and your toddler to spend the morning during February
vacation? On February 21st and February 23rd from 9:30 – 11:00 am, join Time for Partners Art & Music teacher, Paula Gannon, at a drop-in Playspace at Newton City Hall.
For children ages 18 months to 5 years with a caregiver – make an art project, make some music and make new friends! You do not need to be a registered participant in the Time for Partners class to enjoy this fun vacation program, just drop in! $10.00 per child or $25.00 per family. Lumos is running a 2-day Debate Workshop during February and April vacation breaks. Your child will study public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership with experienced instructors. The class is lots of fun and very active – a good class even for for shy or quiet kids. The class is open to students Grades 6-9.

A classic fairy tale told with wit and style, this production of “Cinderella” is a Tanglewood Marionettes showpiece. Set in the eighteenth century and featuring a dozen lavishly costumed 30” marionettes, the story unfolds as the pages of a giant book open to reveal each beautifully painted setting – the village square, the rustic kitchen, the magnificent ballroom, plus many more. All your favorite characters are here, from gentle Cinderella to the bumptious stepsisters and the charming Prince.
Based on the original beloved tale, there are a few new surprises: Cinderella’s method of conveyance to the ball is NOT the traditional horse-drawn coach, and, when all hope seems lost, a clever little bluebird saves the day for Cinderella. Hannah Rosenberg is thrilled to join Newton Youth Players as a director for” Bye Bye
Birdie”! Hannah has been involved in theatre since a young child and recently
became a part of Newton Theatre Company as an actor and Development Director.
Linda Goetz is a professional actress, writer and director; and one of the founders of
the Newton Nomadic Theater. In recent years she was nominated for Best Actress
by the Independent Reviewers of New England for her role as Lady Macbeth with the
FUDGE Theatre.

Are you a current 10th or 11th grade girl looking for a meaningful summer experience honing your coding skills and learning new ones? If so, join this information session about the Girls Who Code (GWC) Summer Immersion Program, a free, 7-week experience for girls to learn the computer science skills they need to make an impact in their communities and be competitive in the job market of the future.
No prior experience or participation with GWC necessary to apply for the summer program. Stipends are available based on need. Early decision applications are due Feb. 16th; all applications are due March 16th.
GWC is a national nonprofit organization leading the movement to inspire, educate and equip girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st-century opportunities. The information session is for current 10th and 11th graders and their adults or anyone who would like to know more about the GWC Summer Immersion Program. No registration necessary.
