Engineering and Logic Summer Camp

Join for a week of intellectual and engaging activities! Participate in engineering challenges, collaborate on science experiments, play strategy games, solve puzzles, create stunning origami and learn how to make balloon animals.

Newton Kitchen Tour

Save the date – the Newton Kitchen Tour is Sunday April 13th.
This self-guided tour will showcase some of the most fabulous kitchens in Newton. The tour offers a chance to walk around and see up close and personal those kitchens you see in magazines. You’ll also be able to ask questions of architects, designers, contractors, and homeowners who have been through the renovation process. Programs for Pre-school through Grade 9 – Now enrolling !!

Looking for fun filled, hands on, educational classes for this summer? Then look no further! Newton Community Farm has an exciting array of programs for all ages that focus on being outdoors and the growing of food.

Farm Sprouts – Pre-school and Kindergarten
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, 10:00 – 11:00 am,  week of June 16th – week of August 25th. Meets weekly choose your day.

Little Diggers – Students entering Grades 1 and 2
Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 12:30 pm,  week of July 7th and Aug 4th
1 week sessions

Farmer in Training – Students entering Grades 3 – 5
Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 12:30 pm, week of July 7th – week of Aug 25th.
1 week sessions

Socially Aware Young Farmers – Students entering Grades 6 – 9.
Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 12:30 pm, week of July 14th and July 21st.
1 week sessions

Newton Girls Softball registration is underway. This is a recreational league for over 300 Newton girls in grades 1-7. Every year, players of all skill levels have a fun and rewarding experience.

Visit the website www.NewtonGirlsSoftball.org for more details, access to on-line registration, and winter indoor clinic information. Register before January 31st to avoid a late fee. February 28th is the last date you can register with guaranteed placement and pair-me-with requests.

Beginner Guitar lessons

Kristina Haney, former Oak Hill student (’04 graduate), is offering beginner guitar lessons to anyone interested. Her passion for music started at a young age, she believes that cultivating a love for music through instrument learning should start early, and she would love to offer her knowledge and experience. Kristina is a Colby College graduate. She has taken 4 years of guitar lessons, played in an ensemble, and taught guitar and poetry to young kids in the past. Register for Spring Kindergarten Soccer!

Since 1993, Kindergarten Soccer has been introducing children to soccer in a fun and non-competitive environment, where girls and boys develop friendships, learn teamwork, and gain confidence.  Games are played on Saturday mornings at Richardson Field in Waban, starting April 5th. Join in and meet other Newton families! The Kindergarten League is open to all Newton children who are currently in kindergarten; the Pre-K League is open to all Newton children who will start kindergarten in the fall of 2014.

The Tanglewood Marionettes present The Dragon King

An underwater fantasy based on Chinese folklore, The Dragon King tells the tale of an intrepid Grandmother who journeys to the bottom of the sea in search of the elusive Dragon King and the answers to why he has forsaken the land above. With colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and a Dragon King that will knock your socks off! JCC Kid’s Choice February School Vacation Program

From sports and swimming to arts, dance, cooking and rock climbing, kids have their choice of activities at the JCC Kid’s Choice February Vacation Program.  For boys and girls entering grades K-6 (and CITs in grades 7-9 at a reduced rate). Special highlights include JCC Magic Ark performance of Josh Casey Comedy and Juggling Show, President’s Day activity, trip to see Hairspray at the Wheelock Family Theatre, Purim Carnival and Snowman Building. Special treat for Kid’s Choice participants — see the 2013 World Series Trophy at the JCC on February 20th!
