Au Pairs for special needs children information session

Come and learn about PROaupair’s professional au pairs. Their au pairs have degrees in pediatric nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, early childhood education, special needs education and more. They have experience working with children with a variety of special needs including autism spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, Down syndrome, diabetes, epilepsy and seizures, extreme/undiagnosed disabilities, and other physical and mental delays.

CAS Global Music Concert and Reception

Newton’s Creative Arts & Sciences presents an evening with Crocodile River Music. Come celebrate the global music experience that students in our NPS enjoyed this fall. Crocodile River Music brings the music of Mali, Brazil, Spain and Trinidad, and the instruments and dances that celebrate these cultures, to Newton. Join musicians from Mali to Boston for an evening of world class entertainment in your own backyard. Complimentary wine, beer, and light fare round out what is certain to be a fabulous event for a 21+ audience.

Vinodivino is supporting CAS efforts by providing a wine and beer tasting at the event. For every order taken on April 8th, and through to the end of the month, Vinodivino will donate 10% of sales to CAS.

In addition, Issa Coulibaly, is offering a one-hour drumming lesson for 10 – valued at $150 – in your home. Raffle tickets are $10 each or $25 for 3 tickets. 3rd Grade Developmental Girls Basketball Program Spring 2016

The Boston Emeralds 3rd grade program is focused on development. Through fun, competitive drills the girls will learn the basic fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting and footwork. There are individual drills, and drills that are done with a partner and a group. Working together, whether with a partner or a group, they will learn the importance of teamwork.

The girls will receive an official reversible Boston Emeralds practice jersey and weekly homework to reinforce the fundamentals learned during our skills sessions. To register and for more information please visit the website at bostonemeraldsbasketball.com. Public Speaking for Teens

Teens: Want to work on your confidence with public speaking? Join a four-part series that will help build communication skills and leadership, led by Lumos Debate. This program is cosponsored by the Friends of the Newton Free Library and Newton Youth Services.

Adult Knitting Class in Newton Center

Would you like to learn to knit? Do you know the basics but are ready to move beyond a scarf? Or have you finished a couple of projects and are ready to learn some new techniques and become more confident?

Register now for an adults-only knitting class taught by an experienced teacher:

 

In this class, beginners will develop a strong foundation of skills so that they can continue knitting many different types of projects. You’ll learn how to: cast on, knit, purl, create a border, read a pattern, identify and fix common mistakes, and bind off. More experienced knitters can expand their skills to cables, lace knitting, chart reading, and/or socks.

Tuesday evenings beginning March 29th , 7:00 – 9:00 pm OR
Wednesday mornings beginning March 30th, 10:00 am – noon

Cost: $75 for a 5-class pass
Location: Instructor’s home in Newton Centre
