Vanessa and the Jumping Monkeys

Bowen Cooperative Nursery School invites families to attend a performance from Vanessa and the Jumping Monkeys. Vanessa Trien and her band will perform a lively, family-friendly, interactive show that will encourage singing and dancing from guests of all ages. Tickets will be sold both in advance (adults $10.00, kids $8.00) and at the door (adults $12.00, kids $10.00). Pizza, snacks, and raffle tickets will also be available for purchase and all proceeds will benefit the school.

Bowen Cooperative Nursery School is a non-profit, child-centered, play-based school. Bowen is a school of families, not just children ­ a place where all members have a chance to learn and grow. Interested in helping a child with disabilities?

Are you interested in helping a child with disabilities learn how to ride a bicycle?

Arlington iCanShine Bike Camp returns to Arlington this April during school vacation week, April 18th – 22nd. iCanShine bike camp is a place where anyone eight or over with a diagnosed disability can learn how to ride a conventional two wheeled bicycle. It’s a place where miracles happen.

They are seeking volunteers, age14 or over, to work with riders during the upcoming bike camp. If you are unfamiliar with what bike camp is all about, head to www.icanshine. org and check out a few of the videos posted there to see bike camp in action.

GELF will hold its annual not-to-be-missed community event, featuring an amazing 5-course gourmet meal (cooked from scratch on-site!!), paired fine beers & wines (featuring Sam Adams beer pairings, a major hit last year!), dancing (with a great live band featuring our own Katani Sumner), 150 like-minded community members, table service by Newton administrators, and a live auction.

Community Contras and Square Dance

“All join hands and circle left!” Traditional American square and contra dances are fun and easy, with music that gets everyone up and onto the dance floor. Join Sue Rosen, caller; Ed Rosen on piano and guitar, along with fiddler Julie Metcalf for a family-friendly community dance event for ages 10 and up. Sue Rosen has been calling dances for the past twenty years and is an active member of the American, English country Dance, Contras and Squares and Morris and Sword Dancing communities.

Acoustic Newton Coffeehouse was created by Barbara Cassidy and Eric Chasalow to showcase the talents of acoustic musicians that call Newton their home. Tickets: $10.00 ($5.00 for students and seniors) at www.newtoncommunitypride.org
