Registration is now open for the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club’s many intramural basketball leagues for children ages 6-18. We offer coed leagues for children in grades k-12 which attract players of all levels of ability. Games start in December and run through mid-March.
The Club’s program is skills-based rather than competition-based. Minimum playing rules in all leagues guarantee that participants will play at least half of each game provided they attend their weekly practice (Grades 3-6). Teams are carefully balanced by age, grade, and ability so that natural defensive match ups form allowing all children to develop at their own pace. This allows players to concentrate on self-improvement rather than worry about making mistakes and losing games.
All current Club members are eligible to play. New families may purchase
a Winter Seasonal membership for $100 or a $125 general membership for the remaining year.
For more information email Jennifer McAuliffe, Program Director at the Boys & Girls Club. Online registration is available here.
Tickets are now available for the Watertown Children’s Theatre’s upcoming production of “Dr. Doolittle,” with performances November 16 – 18 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts.
The classic tale of kindness to animals trots, crawls and flies across the stage – from the small English village of Puddleby-in-the- Marsh to the far corners of the world – in search of the oldest and wisest of earth’s creatures, the Great Pink Sea Snail!
Info and tickets available on the WCT’s website.
The Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Laboratory at McLean Hospital is once again recruiting depressed female adolescents (ages 13-18) for a treatment program.
Have you noticed your daughter feeling depressed? If your child is between the ages of 13 and 18 and has been feeling depressed or has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, she could receive free cognitive behavioral therapy for 16 weeks as part of a research study in the Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Lab at McLean Hospital. For more information, please contact Casey Gardiner at 617-855-4240 or by email.
