Bigelow PTO Meeting with NPS Superintendent

Thank you to all who attended Tuesday’s PTO meeting and joined in the thoughtful discussion about Bigelow and our school district.

Newton’s 55th Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration

The City of Newton will host the 55th Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Newton North High School.

In honor of the celebration, the City of Newton is hosting a food drive to benefit the Newton Food Pantry, Newton Centre Food Pantry, and the Arabic Baptist Food Pantry. Locations for food donations include:

  • Village Bank Locations *
  • Scandinavian Living Center
  • Newton City Hall (please note: City Hall is closed on Saturdays)
  • Newton Police Headquarters
  • Newton Free Library

*Village Bank Locations ONLY until noon on 1/14/23.

Last Few Days of Annual Appeal + Matching Opportunity with Asher Nichols & Craftsmen

The last day of the Bigelow PTO Annual Appeal is Saturday, December 31st. Please consider donating before the end of the year to help us reach our goal and continue to support many programs and services that benefit our students.

Winter Warm-Up Appreciation Lunch

On Wednesday, Bigelow teachers and staff were treated to a “Winter Warm-Up” lunch of a variety of soups, salads, and breads.

Special thanks to Ron Farrar and Suriya Ziblatt for organizing this special lunch to help show our appreciation for Bigelow’s incredible teachers and staff!

Wednesday’s lunch was made possible with your PTO donations as well as contributions from many parents who brought salad, rolls, and cornbread to complete the meal and lent crockpots to keep the soup warm.

“Winter Warm-Up” Items Needed

The PTO is hosting a Winter Warm-Up lunch for Bigelow staff on Wednesday December 21st to show our appreciation for all their efforts this year.

Soups will be purchased for the event, but we need help with salad and crackers, rolls, or cornbread. We are also looking to borrow several crockpots to keep the soup warm.

Please sign-up to help via this link by Monday December 19th and drop off any item(s) at school on the morning of Wednesday, December 21st.

Holiday Gift Card Drive for Bigelow Families

Together with Bigelow Counselors, the PTO is running a Gift Card Drive to support 5 Bigelow families in need this holiday season. 

We are collecting gift cards to Market Basket, Marshalls, and Amazon in denominations of $25, $50, $75, and $100. Gift cards can be dropped off at the school office in an envelope addressed “to: Erin, Jessica, and Molly (Bigelow School Counselors)”

We are also accepting electronic gift cards. Please email electronic gift cards for Market Basket, Marshalls, or Amazon to bigelowbulldog@gmail.com and we will print them for distribution.

Monetary donations can also be made via Venmo and the PTO will buy gift cards. Please write “Gift Card Drive” in the note field. Venmo: @BigelowPTONewton (last 4 digits of phone are 5953).

Please drop off or email any gift card donations by Tuesday, December 20th so they can be distributed to families ahead of winter break.
