Each year, the PTO and its many volunteers run events and programs that support our students, our teachers, and our school community.  This collective effort enriches the middle school experience for everyone.  To make it happen, the PTO depends on community donations of time, money, and other contributions. 

On Tuesday, November 12th, we launched our annual fundraising drive. The Annual Appeal is our biggest fundraiser and covers the bulk of our programming expenses for the year. For this year’s Annual Appeal, we are suggesting a gift of $110, which amounts to PTO spending for one student, but a donation amount of any size would be incredibly helpful.

Let’s celebrate the many cultures and traditions among the students, faculty, staff, and families at Bigelow! Join the committee to shape the Bigelow Global Diversity Night (winter date: to be determined, possibly February!). Several Bigelow families enjoyed multicultural and international celebrations at elementary schools and high schools previously. We’ll build on that knowledge and experience and make it a Bigelow bash! New ideas welcome, too!

One outcome of the October PTO Action Planning session was the formation of a Bigelow Global Diversity Night Committee. We could use your help to make the event reflect all of Bigelow and beyond! Join us to plan an after-school evening to celebrate the many countries and cultures among us with food and fun.  Mark your calendar for our first Committee meeting on Zoom on Tuesday, November 19th at 7pm.  Email 7th grade parent Lanni, lanni_harris@yahoo.com, for Zoom info. 

And before then, the Committee (who also happen to be parents of high school students) will be working at and observing the upcoming Newton North High School Multicultural event on Tuesday, November 12th from 6:30p-8p. Newton students and families are welcome to attend. Contact Lanni if you’d like to meet us there that evening!

Building on the work of the community building / social events group at the October PTO Action Meeting, we are gauging interest and availability for Ten Tables, a mystery dinner and fundraiser (for parents & caregivers), and semi-regular movie nights (for students).

Ten Tables is a mystery dinner and fundraiser for parents and caregivers. All attendees first gather at one location for an opening appetizers party where they receive their dinner destination. After appetizers, everyone proceeds to their destination for a small-group dinner hosted by Bigelow parents and caregivers. After dinner, everyone reconvenes for dessert and coffee at a new location.

Ten Tables would most likely occur on a Saturday evening in March or April 2025. Tickets will be based on a suggested donation with an option for no charge / scholarship tickets to reduce barriers to participation.

We have already identified a Ten Tables chair and 2 dinner hosts. Please help us determine if we have enough interest to proceed with this event.

The PTO would also like to host semi-regular Movie Nights at Bigelow for students. Please let us know what evenings work best for your student.

Attention 8^th grade parents! 
We will be hosting a bake sale fundraiser on Tuesday, November 5th at Bigelow from 8am – 1pm. All proceeds will go towards the 8th grade class. We are asking for donated baked goods and beverages.

Baked goods can be dropped off anytime Monday evening 11/4 or before 8 am on Tuesday 11/5 at 136 Washington St (Luethy family house) on the front porch, or brought to Bigelow between 8-10 am on Tuesday 11/5. The bake sale will be held inside the back entrance by the gym.
