Cradles to Crayons Drive November 14th – 18th

Please donate gently used or new clothes, books, toys, or games to Cradles to Crayons. Cradles to Crayons provides gently used essential items to children in low income situations. Please do not donate anything that is stained, ripped or torn. Cradles to Crayons is in most need of jeans and pants. They accept clothing from size 0-20. Follow the road to the tennis courts and take a left. You will see a pool,
fountain and “boathouse” recreation building on the left. There is a
parking lot in front of the boathouse, which is where we’ll meet.
Newton Girls Basketball Registration (NGBA)
Newton Girls Basketball Registration (NGBA): High school registration deadline is Tuesday, November 30. NGBA High School league is intended for girls who have played basketball and are seeking a fun and slightly more competitive experience. Players in the high school league generally are former grade 2-8 NGBA players interested in playing a recreational, competitive basketball game on Saturdays. NGBA second grade program provides a fun introduction to basketball for both players and parents. The program is lead by a professional basketball coach, with assistance from high school student coaches. The program is designed to teach the basics of basketball during the first part of the 50 minute session, and then organizes games/scrimmages for the second part. Sessions are Saturday mornings at Oak Hill Middle School. NGBA also has a limited number of slots available in Grades 2-8. For more information go to www.ngba.net.

7th Annual Statewide Poetry Contest
World Unity, Inc. and WROR radio are sponsoring the 7th Annual Statewide Poetry Contest, on the theme of Equality and Diversity. Students across Massachusetts are invited to write a poem that best describes their interpretation of equality and diversity. The poem should be about 100 words or less and must fit a 30 second spot. The poetry contest will begin November 7th. Last day for entry is December 16, 2011, only one entry is permitted per person.
A committee of educators and community leaders will select three of the most representative poems, which will be read by the student and produced into a public service announcement that will air on WROR radio.
