Newton Community Farm’s Annual Fall Festival

Come enjoy your local community farm at 303 Nahanton Street in Newton during an afternoon of fun family activities There will be live music by the High Strung Strummers, a sing-a-long (11:45 – 12:30) led by Julia of Music Together , pumpkin decorating, face painting, and spider web cutting.

Your family can play corn hole together, or take a great family photo. Come for lunch and enjoy a fresh-made sandwich from around the world, grilled corn, apples, and delicious treats provided by our community bakers. It’s a perfect way to welcome the fall season!

We depend on our community of volunteers to make these public events possible. Please consider volunteering for a shift, and/or baking  for the bake sale to make your contribution. Please visit the website  for more information or to sign up to volunteer.

Middle School Speech Team

Newton Public School students in Grades 6-8*, join the Speech Team to become a better public speaker, gain confidence for class discussions and dramatic presentations, win awards for yourself and your school, make friends with kids from all over the state, and have fun as part of an amazing team.

You’ll compete in tournaments through the Massachusetts Middle School Speech League (formerly the Forensics League) in the event you choose, from among prose or poetry reading, original oratory, impromptu, and more. All students are expected to attend a minimum of six tournaments in order to represent their team and improve their public speaking skills. Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s Hope Walks 2017

Join Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s 8th Annual Hope Walks. Hope Walks is a 3.3 mile neighborhood walk to benefit the life-enhancing Integrative Support Services at the Vernon Cancer Center. The annual fundraiser starts and ends at the hospital and brings together nearly 1,000 patients, families, caregivers, residents and volunteers to help cancer patients and their families through treatment and recovery. 2017 Our Neighbors’ Table Fundraiser

Tickets are on sale now for Newton Food Pantry ‘s second Our Neighbors’ Table (ONT) fundraiser. ONT is a unique event where guests can experience the tastes of some of
Newton’s best restaurants such as Central , Comedor, Farmstead Table, Fiorella’s , and Lumiere and feel good knowing that all proceeds will go to benefit our community.

Einstein’s Workshop  is a year-round STEAM education center run by Zervas parent Chris
Payton. Their goal is to educate and inspire students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics and classes introduce students to Robotics, Coding, Making & Inventing, and Game Based Learning in age-appropriate groups with experienced instructors.

Registration is currently open for weekend classes and clubs at the flagship Burlington location as well as through after-school partnerships with organizations such as Newton Community Education. Register for Burlington programs by September 15th to receive a 10% early bird discount.

Einstein’s Workshop also offers school vacation programs, including themed classes on Rosh Hashanah and Columbus Day during which children will work with lego robotics, create their own 3D printed or lasercut school accessories, and solve unique Minecraft-based challenges. Newton Girls Ultimate Frisbee

Do you have a daughter interested in learning to play Ultimate Frisbee? Join the Newton Airbenders, an all-girl Ultimate team based in Newton and their incredible new coach Rhys Thomas. Rhys is a Boston local with over a decade of experience in ultimate and youth work. He is super positive, fun, and upbeat..

The Newton Middle School Girls’ Ultimate Frisbee Team is recruiting girls in grades 5-8 for the Fall 2017 season. Players do not have to be Newton residents – residents from any town are welcome. The program includes weekly practice Sundays 4:00 – 6:00 pm at a field in Newton as well as one or two half-day tournaments.
The season runs approximately through October 29th.
