Newton Community Education Fall SAT & College Readiness Classes

  • Navigating the Student-Athlete College Search and Recruiting Process – a 2 session program, October 30th and November 1st, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Newton North. Parents and students welcome.
  • Getting Divorced? How are You Paying for College? – October 23rd, 6:30-8:30 pm at Newton North, for adults.

Spots Open in First Grade Brownie Troop!

Parents of first grade girls, Troop 82115 is looking for Girl Scouts! They meet every other Monday during the school year starting October 1st from 3:30 – 4:45 pm at the Auburndale Community Library.

As a Brownie your girl will earn badges, do a project that helps others, explore nature and the outdoors, and most of all have fun and make new friends along the way.

Basketball & Multi-Sports Clinic

Basketball & Multi-Sports Clinic @ Williams Elementary School with Be Ahead of the Game.

This combined series of basketball and multi-sports clinics will introduce a variety of sports and the basic skills needed to play them along with an emphasis on basketball. Sports include soccer, floor hockey, dodgeball, volleyball, and other traditional and non-traditional games, in addition to basketball. Cooperation and teamwork will be the focus, rather than the competition of the games. Your child will learn proper warm-up games and stretching before introducing new sports, their rules and tactics. This is a great way to get in some late day exercise, have fun, and play many types of games, as well as get ready for the upcoming basketball season.

Thursdays, October 4th – November 15th
6:00 – 7:00 pm, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades
7:00 – 8:00 pm,  3rd, 4th and 5th Grades

Singers K-8th grade invited to join VOICES Boston!

Do you have a child that loves to sing? Join VOICES Boston children’s chorus for the 2018-2019 season! With singing at its core and training in dance and drama, VOICES Boston changes the lives of children, building confidence, discipline, leadership and a love of music that will last a lifetime.

They offer ensembles for singers grades K-8 and rehearse at the William H. Lincoln School in Brookline. VOICES singers perform a wide range of repertoire, from classical to world music, gospel to new music and present an opera every year.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Mayor Fuller will be hosting the 3rd annual ceremonial flag raising at Newton City Hall on September 5th at 5:30 pm. See the flyer here: Flag Raising Ceremony

The event often brings forth a great deal of emotion and sense of purpose. You will hear from families, physicians, non-profits and other neighbors who are part of the childhood cancer community. This beautiful and heartfelt event will help elevate all of the efforts to rid the world of this evil disease.

Time for Partners – Art & Music for Toddlers

The popular art & music class for children ages 18 months to 4 years with an adult is thriving in the Newton Cultural Center at City Hall!  A terrific way to learn, have fun and make friends – and that’s not just for the kids!

Parents, nannies and grandparents enjoy this long-running program also. Children make creative and enriching art projects and enjoy singing and fun with beloved performer David Polansky. The classes fill up very quickly, so don’t wait!
